Call me the old generation if you want, but I still don't understand the value of sitting behind a video game console for hours. Is it fun? Yeah. Will it give you skills to go through life? I don't think so. Is it detrimental to your kids' upbringing? Probably not. If it does add value and teach skill, then help me understand.

video games engage your mind in ways that other things can't. they DO IN FACT promote fast thinking and decision making. they help kids with autism. they do promote social interactions, especially with people you can't possibly see in person. depending on the game they can teach you a lot of things, sports games can teach you plays, skills, methods that you can then go practice outside. kids that played guitar hero have been proven to have an easier time learning the guitar. their is a huge entertainment field for video games now where you can make a ton of money, support yourself and your family, and do great in life. sports players spend their entire lives focusing on only one thing, and a video game player can spend their lives playing games and make the same money, but learn MORE than just plays and lifting weights. nobody bashes those that play the GAME of football, but by gosh if you play a video game...

Anyone in here going to ATR? thinking about buying @JimboAnz tent. My thoughts on kids education, you can tell which kids have parents that read with them/work with them so please spend time with your kids and school is NOT daycare!!!!!

they are LIKE. are they exact replacements for or identical to? nope, I didn't say that.

but if you have a kid that only lifts weights and plays football his whole life, and is never pushed or challenged in school...then guess what he's gonna be dumb as a rock.

but if you have a kid that only plays video games, he has a whole world open to him of education because all video games are not the same. they can teach history, they can teach sports, they can teach music, they can teach math, they can literally teach EVERYTHING...you just have to take it and go apply it.

the amount of times I've been told "you won't understand you're not married" or "you wont understand you don't have kids" is just ridiculous. stop having that mindset people! just because someone doesn't have the exact same experiences as you, does not mean they won't understand something.

I could say, "oh you're not a mechanical engineer you won't understand that" to a lot of things...but guess what...it is possible to understand without the same experiences or qualifications that I have got.

You know, it's a sad day in history, when it takes video games to give your kid an education and not the educational system itself.

I've got 5 sets of adult sparring gloves in my garage. Maybe we can just duke it out like we did back in the old days? Nah, we'd have to pull a gun and shoot one another today! lol

it doesn't take video games to teach that over the educational system, but they can assist.

again, I know people that have never played a video game in their life...and they are dumb as rocks and only know how to do one thing in life.

I know people that played video games their entire life....and they are dumb as rocks and only know how to do one thing in life.

you keep taking my comments and swinging them 100% to one direction against your own opinions, and they just aren't.

Aw come on now, we're having healthy debate. Like Mark said, we just agree on so many things and disagree on one aspect of it all.

I've got a savings fund started for this. I'll get there eventually. Don't care about the numbers matching as I'll probably resto mod it and put a 455 crate motor in it. I'll upgrade the suspension and brakes as well. Should be a real hoot to drive.

Could not have been said any better! Teach your kids to be good productive people, that is on the parents. Not saying kids that turn out bad is the parents vault 100% but teaching your kids starts at home. Even the best taught kids are going to try things they were taught not to do butt that is life. I feel a lot of kids are not taught respect but they're a lot of good kids in the world. But, because it does not get as much attention the media does not talk about good things. When I was a kid you could tell the difference between tabloids and the 6:00 news.

what is the one aspect you seem to think we disagree on?

besides you thinking kids are stupid, that video games serve no purpose and are useless, and that you can only be a man by sparring?

I haven't posted in here but maybe 2 times in the last 2 months. But after seeing Jeff agree with Scotty...this place sucks even harder than it ever did now. I just wanna go back into hiding now.
