Just saw this one and found it amusing.
Joe invited his buddy Bill over to try some Himalayan deer stew, when Bill commented about how good it was and asked about how it got its name Joe replied "because I found himalayan along the road".
I know, I know, but there have been many road killed deer processed in our area, the best ones are when the car in front of you just hit one!

Hey Cap, do they have nuisance hunts along highway corridors with high rates of vehicle/deer accidents down there? Just curious, ADF&G manage a program along with the Troopers here to reduce concentrated moose populations along heavily travelled routes. Randy and I have participated in two.

Op , I have a question regarding your poll...What will Maine Fish & Game say when Mike hands them a bottle of ketchup when they ask for his deer permit?

Nope, but there are special ranch bumpers that some hill county folks make that, when they encounter a large edible road obstruction, capture it and don't let it go under the truck.

If you hit it with your vehicle, you're supposed to move it to the side of the road. If it never hits the pavement, however...

It's still illegal, but damned if the stupid things don't go OUT OF THEIR WAY to run in front of vehicles moving at lethal speeds.

Hmmm...that reminds me of something my Chief told me. He lives in NJ and is retired now, but when he was commuting deer encounters were a regular part of his week. His blue truck got "ran into" 3 times in as many years. He drove the last 7 or so years in a brown colored Tacoma and told me the deer would run out and then veer and run parallel to his truck. His theory was however deer see shades, the brown color was more perceptible to them some how. This man is more than a father to me, he's never lied to me or "sugar-coated" the truth a day in his life. Just thought I'd share that. Have a great day, Cap. :)

I smacked one at 75 mph in a 1991 Chevy Cavalier. I swerved to avoid it - it was scot-free! - and it swerved back in front of me as if to say "not so fast."

The deer died, my radiator died, by hood died, it was chaos.

What pissed me off more than anything was that he was going to live, then at the last second turned around and ran back in front of me.

Texas must simply have suicidal deer.

Why do you need a permit?
    You got one already...
