If Carvana is a cash offer, that's truly resale.

If you were working a trade with them, as it appears you might be, based on your dealer comments, that's not a resale value.

IE the dealer number is not a resale figure, it's a trade allowance. Meaning you are going to pay too much for what you buy.

Don't bring the trade to the table until you have a final price, in ink and approved, worked on the purchase. Then you'll know what they are really paying for your trade.

Your credit union is the best place to ask. They'll only loan what it's worth as collateral. Not some magical trade number.

Right, if I sell to carvana and buy new I have to pay $2,000+ in taxes. If you trade in you only have to pay taxes on the difference between the two. Roughly $250 in my case. The $3500 was including taxes if I traded it in.

Thats still pricey for something two years newer. But the ‘19s got power seats now right?

I’m almost tempted to really see what my 2nd Gen is worth. I can get a beater Subaru Forester for a couple years and put the Tacoma money on my house. :anonymous:

That is crazy. I just paid $32600 for my 2019 Cavalry Blue TRD OR 4x4 DCSB. Hopefully this is still the case if I decide to sell a few years from now.

According to kbb my 2017 has only lost ~2K from my purchase price (not MSRP). Not bad for 2.5 years.
But my truck is bad-a$$. DCSB V6/Auto 4X4. No nanny crap, and you can't get BBP any more. No way I'm trading it in for a 2019.
But a 2020 TRD with premium and tech, very interesting ...

Let’s see if it would be the same price when they come to look at it.

Btw I ran my truck earlier. Got a low offer. Redid it again, once with the vin and another time just manually putting the same info in. Got 2 completely different numbers

Damn I got a negative market adjustment on mine. 32,603 for my 2019 dclb off-road 4x4 with premium and tech and only 3k miles.

I recently paid $31,000 for an '18 SR5 4WD DCLB....5800 miles. Compared to other trucks I found, that was a bargain.

I got a similar letter from my local dealer (North Carolina) regarding my 2016 TRD OR.

Also, just saw a carvana tv commercial where they're seeking used cars to buy.

Dealers are in business to make money. The want your trade to turn around and sell it making money. Also selling you a new one to make money. They also get incentives back from the manufacturer, thus making more money. They make money and get kick backs from your financing. Also selling you extended warranties and other products at purchase. Money on accessories and service work. So of course they want your trade. Even if you’re not buying another from them, someone will buy the one they are offering to buy from you. Those letters are just a sales ploy. They want you to come in and take a look at what they have to offer. Most people are impulse buyers, or can be persuaded or talked into buying something. After all, you have to have some interest. You’re the one who came in....
