Too dry is the worst, to me. And, sadly, about 80% is too dry.

Too dry, works awesome in bowl with maple syrup and milk.

    Burnt, and salty, yes.

Normally I'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming to go to one of those "antique malls", but I'm putting together my home office and am looking for mid century stuff, so I'm going once in awhile. Contrary to what I had imagined, this one had a number of booths with some very good stuff - tools, military things, garage stuff, etc.

One booth was almost entirely cast iron, with a lot of Griswold. I spotted this monster and thought of this thread. What a giant beast! With a giant price tag. I wanted to pick it up to feel the heft but couldn't risk an accidental droppage that would cost me $900!

The one to the left of the $900 giant roaster is $140. If you zoom in on the image you can see the description and price. He had a lot of cast iron!

Rhubarb, from our garden, with a little strawberry, cobbler.
    Wagner no 5.

    Edit:
Preheated the pan and the Rhubarb/Strawberry mix.
Poured mix in, spooned batter on top.
400 for a while, till done.

Did a little camping with my fiancée and her brothers this past weekend. Sunday was our night to cook dinner so we pulled out all the stops with a spicy sausage and chorizo campfire paella.

I'm quite thankful for fire pits with adjustable grates now. We first tried this recipe in the grand canyon and I had to get creative since someone felt the need to bend the grate so it didn't sit flat.

Bonus: while I was tending the paella on the fire, the future missus was making hush puppies.

I wish there was, but somehow every person I fall in love with has some dietary restriction and hers is dairy and fish. The dairy is managable with enzyme pills, but she straight up does not like fish or any other seafood.

The paella probably would have done well with some crayfish and mussels, but this is the fiancee friendly version.
