anyone from Maine planning to go? campsites are cheap $20/night + $30/day of wheeling, and $45 for a 2 day pass.. I'm planning to go on the night of the 19th when i get out of work at 6:30PM, and head straight down.. see how far I get and maybe sleep in the truck for the night.. unless I can plan out a free campsite on the way.. arrive/register campsite for the 20th and 21'st and leave on the 22nd early 9 AM...

google maps puts it at 8:20 to 9:20 hours drive to get there from thomaston...

EDIT sorry this year its on the 4th-6th.....

My brother's 33, still lives at home.
Your stepdaughter sounds like she'll follow that path

I definitely could have been out of my parents house sooner. I was 25 when I moved out. But living with them after college for a few years allowed me to bank enough money to buy a house rather than renting immediately and for a longer period of time before being able to buy.

I lived at home after college for a year or two, while working full time. I didn't pay parents rent or anything, but they also didn't pay for anything I did. Moved out for 6 years? Maybe a little more, then 3 years ago back into an apartment above their barn. I paid utilities on house and barn, and did all the trail/yard work there as payment for that, and we were busy saving up after our business start-up for a downpayment on a house loan. Now we are in our own home and don't see a future scenario where I would ever move back in with them. If anything, they would move in with us as they age...

Part of me felt pretty lame for moving back in my parents place at 30, but we had total privacy, the price was right and it allowed us to build our home we live in now while we were starting our business. :notsure:

I was out before 18 because I didn’t want to move to NH as I had no interest in the move because I didn’t want to change schools and graduate where I already was.

Well this is good to hear. Does this apply to small trailer tires as well? My Starcraft, the only thing that needs done right away is the tires, but only due to age. They look perfectly fine.

Yeah, same rules. If they're not weather cracked they should be good to go.
Of course, if you're driving faster than what they're rated for, all bets are off, lol.

I did the same.. on and off through college.... then I got a fulltime job with benefits... busted ass for just over a year... bought a house was out at 26... I'm 36 now.. way better than renting. i watch all my coworkers, and friends with their rentals paying nearly my base mortgage payment for something they have no stake/investment in...

Shrug. Financially, it would have been smarter to have lived with my folks for a little longer. I moved out as soon as I hit 18 and had to scrape to make rent for a few years rather than banking that $. I could have bought a fixer-upper house sooner than I did (at 25) if I'd done it that way.
On the other hand, the independence was REALLY nice, and I had a lot of good times with friends while we were flat broke and living in crappy apartments that I wouldn't have had if I'd still been living at home. Six of one, half dozen of the other. :notsure:

In the China Kitchen in Taunton. Enjoying a chow mein sandwich. I haven’t seen this menu item anywhere but Taunton or Fall River. It is found elsewhere?
    Yummy. Inexpensive. Perfect.

I think life experience is most important at that age, people need to learn to be independant and how life works as an adult. That experience for me happened a little in college, but honestly was delayed until after when I moved to NC on my own and didn't know anyone and family was 800 miles away. I often think I could have saved myself and parents a lot of money and hassle if they just let me go move to a city somewhere and learn how things really work in the world. Oh well, can't do anything about it now! But I won't be so gung-ho on college if I have children that's for sure.

I left home at 21--a friend and I split the cost of a house, lived there for three years, and sold it. My share of the sale paid for the closing and down payment on my current house. My only regret is I really should have been able to save more money from 21-24. Our expenses were so minimal with everything split 50/50, but I still managed to spend most of what I made.

I don't think my brother is going to turn out very well, though--just graduated high school and has no job and no plans to go onto college. His life is video games, he refuses to actually put effort into getting a job, simply putting in online applications and never following up on them. I think he needs some serious help, but no one wants to force him into it. He frequently makes statements about no one liking their job anyway so what's the point in trying to find something you like. He thinks the best he can hope for is a tiny apartment with a computer to game on and a low-paying job that he can take a bus back and forth to.

kinda sad.. but it is the world we live in... reminds me of the kid on youtube that graduated HS, and just keeps playing video games, and getting caught by his brother, or dad playing games "in secret" dad finds him.. smashed his games, and system.. or runs them over with a lawn mower.. lol... starting to think I need to open a separate bank account... and start my banking out of it.. wife is a marshmellow when it comes to her daughter.. and i dont want to support her laziness.. (I'm still paying for everything), may upset the wife a bit.. but I think she'll find out soon enough.. (wifey- doesnt make enough on her own now to put gas in her car).. let alone a car payment or otherwise.. She used to make more than I did Retirement fund account manager for AXA.. was fired in december of 2016.. she works as a cashier at a local CO-OP making about a 5th of what she was... puts all the load of bills on me.. Im forced to work overtime on my days off, if I dont... we fall behind.. and you guessed it I am expected to pay for it all...

next project is to tell the daughter she needs to pay her share of the cell bill $40 for her line, and $20 for data (thats cheap, considering we pay $226 a month for 3 smartphones).. and help her mother with grocery $$...

wifey said she was going to take on one of the household bills.. that was 3 months ago.. LOL...

Well, that went better than expected and as well as I'd hoped. Slathering everything with copper antiseize the last time I had it apart was the right thing to do. Not one stuck or frozen fastener after 50k miles, a couple of winters and several offroad trips. All the alignment hardware was reusable and now I've got a spare set of everything stuck in my work bench. Rebuilt LCAs installed with Whiteline bushings and Proforged ball joints.

My feelings exactly. I had the arms ready to go in advance, bushings and ball joints installed, I had all the tools that I knew I'd need laid out last night, so when 5pm hit, I went out to the driveway and got to it. From start to finish, just under two hours to change out both sides, and test driven.
