These look great, but see on the front page they don't work on 2012? too tight? While I'm sure reading all 390 pages of this would be helpful, anyone successfully mount these front or rear with a 2012 +

    Yes. They work.
They modified the bumper recently, or DIY, to fit around the AC line to the left of the radiator/condenser.

Nice truck, question. Did your truck come with those black fender flares? Or are they after market? I’m trying to find some for my 2011 pre runner, but all I can find are the ones with the bolts on the outside. and I don’t like that look. I prefer a clean look like yours.

What impact on ride handling, parts wear, gas mileage, and braking distance does adding something like 120 lbs. or more for a front steel bumper?

If you're questioning those things when considering replacing plastic and aluminium with steel, on a 2wd, then it's likely not the right choice.

Inherently, I already get terrible mpg compared to your 2wd simply because 4x4. I already had lift, 33s, sliders, skids, and rear bumper before the front. Idk if it affected anything or not. I know exactly why I've replaced my clutch, passenger hub, and inner/outer tie rods before 80k miles, because mud and rocks and skinny pedal.

Not a major impact. Keep in mind that your are actually adding about 80-90 lbs since you are removing some stuff. There are a lot of other factors that will effect your breaking before this bumper does.
My nose dropped about 1/4 inch and i noticed that when I went over bumps the nose would bounce a little more then before, but I got used to it. My MPG dropped 1-2 when I put the bumper on, but then I saw an improvement more recently after I rigged the original "skid plates" back on. I'm back to about 19-20 mpg.
I replaced my front shocks this year during the frame recall, had the bumper for about 3 years now, the old shocks still had plenty of life in them.
But I don't wheel so my wear is mild. I got this bumper because it was cheaper then OEM when then got banged up, and I like the look.

That's exactly why I recently installed a cheap ebay bumper (pics coming soon...). I could have gotten my insurance company to replace the bumper and grille with stock plastic parts, but decided to take the money instead and do it myself and install a steel bumper. There are pros and cons, but I like it and definitely feel safer as a result if ever involved in a front end incident.

I installed this cheap ebay bumper after getting into a minor accident: https://www.ubox-offroad.com/collec...inch-plate-for-toyota-tacoma-2005-2015-bxg402

I still need to wire up the fog lights and make a few more minor tweaks. For instance, one side is about 3/8ths of an inch lower than the other side. Oh yeah, I installed a Warn fairlead for aesthetic purposes. I also purchased a new cheap grille with integrated lights.

I didn’t install the “skirt” and probably won’t. I prefer the industrial look with the under guts on display. I plan to clean and re-paint those parts black. I also didn’t install the silver screws on the front face – those screws make the bumper look even cheaper than it already is. The bumper also came with D-rings which looked low budget and quickly got tossed in the garbage along with the blue logo badge that was already glued on the bumper. I think the bumper looks a lot better without all of that extra crap on it.

Here’s a quick pro/con assessment of my cheap ebay bumper experience:

    PROS
    · Looks badass!
    · Heavy gauge steel
    · I feel safer and more emboldened; other drivers should tremble in fear
    · Cheaper and less hassle than allowing the insurance company to keep my truck for 4 days to install the stock bumper and grille
    · Fog lights were pre-installed
    · Flat top surface allows for setting drinks, tools, etc. on it

    CONS
    · No assembly instructions, even though their ad said otherwise; I emailed the manufacturer and they referred me to a dead email address
    · Arrived with several scratches due to poor packing and/or handling
    · Arrives in a 148 lb. box and requires assembly; if working alone, it’s very heavy and difficult to place nuts on some of the screws due the backside braces being in the way
    · It’s an aftermarket part, so don’t expect everything to fit as it should; I had to make several adjustments; some of the hardware didn’t fit
    · Sticks out farther than I expected; if you’re not very tall like me, it may be a little bit more difficult to reach the engine.

For me, the pros outweigh the cons and would recommend it if you have no desire to spend at least double for a better bumper option.

I just purchased one and it shows shipped with no tracking. Just curious how long it took y’all to receive the bumper from the time it shipped
