Uhhmm... the internet told me that a snorkel will add 25hp due to "ram air" affect... pretty much like having a $200 supercharger. I mean i haven't dyno'ed it yet...but Causin Joe says he can feel the 25 horse increase in his pants! Joe and the Internet... ALWAYS right!

So today while gong up an incline I hit the gas pretty hard. I got a pretty violent slam that I’m guessing is axel wrap from the extra power with the supercharger. This is even with Deavers. I’m planning on a traction bar to keep that from happening again. Anybody ever have that happen?

I was worried someone would mention the trans. Im pretty sure it downshifted before the slam. And I drove around a little while after and it was shifting just fine. Hopefully nothing broke.

My experience with axle wrap in my last Tacoma (automatic) was that it happened when coming to a stop not when accelerating, but I guess it could go either way

It all happened pretty fast. Going up a on ramp while rolling on the throttle it down shifted to a low gear. I got going way too fast so I let off. Somewhere between the downshift, high RPM S/C whine and letting off the throttle there was a pretty startling slam.

I guess it possible the downshift to high RPM, 80lb 285s, incline, soft springs, and extra power was enough to wrap the springs with a harsh rebound.

I’ve had this happen once before after hammering the throttle then letting off. I believe it was with my stock springs though which wrapped at every stop and go.

The guys at Napa ordered the wrong master cylinder despite me having the one I needed directly in front of them when it was ordered. Waited a week for nothing. Got one on rock auto coming in Friday.

Then I went to my buddy's shop; he suggested I go with a Frontrunner water tank for my water supply. It'll sit well with the mount attached to the bed where it sits in this pic-

would this be something that would happen in MT
i got a little bit stuck in the sandy muck 15ft from the mighty Mo river the other day and did not force my way out of that mess, i just felt the rear grab in the sand, stopped and put it in 4lo and crawled right on out like a champ.
but was that 'thuddish' feeling in the rear getting stuck (in 2wd) what is called or referred to as axle wrap

    you have had two Tacomas!?

    Few simple things.....
    1. Front tire has hole on the sidewall , therefore got a couple front tires ( Cooper Evolution HT 245/75/16 ) drastic change!!! really smooth the ride and handling .... will stay away from the badass off road tires ( jeep stiff ride ..nahh) , within a year I will put the other 2 and one spare, I could not afford the MICHELIN DEFENDER , but got impress with the tech specs of this tire and how smooth rolls.
    2. Fill up gas \ 16.82 MPG ... not bad at all
    3. Call Exxon , app was down , I got receipt so they added x3 points and will send me a physical card by mail.

Only keep using Exxon , on my area is cheaper than Shell .... I don't use any other brands..... adding point an a complete dollar off every other tank...... filling up every 250 miles ....works for me

Have a good day fellows !!!

    :hattip:

I am happy when I make it to 250. Especially on 35's fully armored and loaded for a trip.
