yes, I think those type of wheels would beef my ride up quite a bit
plus my OEMs have seen a ton of highway gravel and are pitted & chipped and weight marks scarred the outside and new OEMs are nearly $400 each so pass on new ones

 

Thanks and I bought them at discount tire for about $400, but that was when I was richer and still living at home haha
That is also a very pretty truck if I might add! My stock rims are alright, but they need cleaned. They are some where at my parents, hopefully some where with a roof.

 

I should probably check both sides, then. That seems to be a common area for rust. I think a new tailgate is in order. haha

 

I checked, this could be the start of corrosion.. dun... dun.. dun.

yes, hopefully that is an easy to fix and stop it from spreading

Drop your spare tire and get up under the truck and look at the rear shock top support section on both sides.
This is one area where rust starts and goes into the frame.

 

Okay, I definitely will. The spare tire cable probaly needs a good shot of WD40 anyways.

 

do you have any loose paint on the very top of the frame in the rear (bumper/spare tire areas)

 

I'm not sure. I'm going to drop the spare tire tomorrow and check everything out. I did find a couple of rust spots inside the bed, under the protective plastic bed liner. (Very crunchy) So, I'm becoming worried about other rust issues that I haven't found...

its probably ok! i just noticed a bit back there on mine in areas i can never fully rinse off in the dead of winter and will need to figure out how to remove the whole bed and take all the defective paint off and put better quality stuff on it
that would also give me the best opportunity to replace all the original suspension parts without much hassle since I can stand right on top of them! I am not 'very' mechanically inclined so somewhat unsure of what I am doing to my old but still new to me truck. I will probably run into issues that are not in my wheelhouse

 

Virginia. Believe it or not it was fairly isolated to that one spot. It came from my cousin hauling trash with this truck for the last 5 years. He literally used the truck as a dumpster and took the trash to it every night and when it filled up he went to the dump. I’m assuming he kept the truck parked on a slight slope always in the same spot. So the trash ate through that spot like fertilizer. You can see the hole it ate in the bed above the frame (you can see the jackstand in my bed poking through lol)It also ate a hole in the passenger side shock.

Haha I've hit a few issues like that. YouTube usually has the solution, not always though

 

I'm assuming no bed liner then.. Haha That is odd though, you'd think he would have realized he had a problem when it ate through the bed.

 

yeah no bed liner. He didn’t notice anything. Lol completely clueless. He had been driving with no power steering for 4 years. I fixed that in an Hour. The engine was all sludged. Idk that he ever changed the oil. He claims he did but I don’t buy it. Still has factory shocks. 316,000miles. He said it was leaking clutch fluid but he didn’t know where. You look in the drivers floorboard and it’s covered in oil...clutch fluid from the slave. He gave the truck to me just in time.

 

Haha Im glad its be cared for now. I still have my original clutch. No leaks yet, but Im prepared to have someone else fix it.
