I want to camp at or around capital reef sometime. There’s ZERO light pollution in that area. It’s crazy

Aw come on. It’s not that bad

Mountain passes in Colorado are way worse

Agreed, I’ve never been nervous about driving anywhere or anything till I got out there.
Oddly enough the road to Cave of the Winds just outside of Springs was the worst.
BUT, I think it had more to do with I was in a rental that had tall gears and no downhill assist. Scared the crap out of me. I told the wife to walk down. No use both of us dying. She just looked at me puzzled. LOL

Yeah it’s much better in your own vehicle that you are familiar with vs a rental that’s had everyone burning up the brakes because they are dumb

I’ve seen quite a few videos of the various passes out there to hopefully not end up on one I can’t make. This will give some perspective (their videos from Colorado are pretty awesome)

My wife cried at the top of that road, because it was “so beautiful”. It was easy but truly amazing!

Potash road. From outside of Moab it takes you right up to the top of Canyonlands. It’s a lightly bouncy dirt road, not aggressive at all (you can see I drove with the kayaks on the roof rack up...) but it was truly a spectacular road. And short. Like a half day to go drive up, bop to a few Canyonlands overlooks and drive back down. We were there only three full days. So we drove the Hells Revenge trail (my favorite 4x4 road of all times so far). And the potash road. As well as driving in Arches and hiking in Canyonlands. Moab is fucking spectacular. I flip flop between Moab and and the San Juan mountains of Colorado as my favorite places in the US. Followed by all of California (coast redwoods, Death Valley, the Sierra mountains, and more off-roading that you can shake a stick at).

I have been to 35 states in the last two years on various road trips recently (that’s why my truck has put on 89,000 miles in the last two years). Lived in Yosemite National Park and Rocky Mountains National Park. And still, Moab UT and Durango/Silverton/Ouray CO, are the places I have been to the most and will return to again and again.

Have fun in Moab. I was just there in June and it was amazing as usual.

I have a love/hate relationship with Moab. I love how beautiful it is but hate the crowds. The first time there was after riding the Kokopelli Trail from Fruita, CO on my mtn bike. After seeing 2 people the whole day before, the streets of Moab were pretty stressful. Cool town and area but expect crowds in the usual places.

Just washed, waxed, armor all, cleaned the floor mats, windows , did a oil change and tire rotation.
    (Oh yeah)

All that so I can drive in a rainstorm to our campsite near Crivitz/Silver cliff Sunday. My wife wanted to hit Marinette County to see waterfalls. Anyone head up that way to check those out? If so , which ones are a can’t miss?

Hmmm. Any waterfalls near the pipeline?
My wife might get suspicious if she sees a sign “Pipeline ——> this way”

It just had a heavy rain a hour ago here. My neighbor laughed as I was drinking his beer. “2 hours cleaning” oh well it’s gonna get trashed this weekend on our family camping trip.
    Not having a garage sucks!
