Yeah, that was definitely the defining moment... was kind of like, ok, got it marked off, now to just cut a huge chunk of my frame out...

And at one point where every stock suspension component was on the ground in the driveway, including the front differential and that piece of frame, I was like "damn I wonder if I should have paid a professional do this" lol considering I don't even change my own oil...

Haha. Just my personal opinion- I like the look of big tires. But there is some work thats necessary to run em. Not denying that.
Well see I already have 35x12.50's.... on 3" of lift! :D
I know it takes work to run em, but its totally worth it IMO and I think they look awesome on the 2nd gens. They're quite a bit bigger than the 1st gen Tacomas and the bigger tires look more proportional to me.
I like the low CG with most ground clearance possible approach- its gives the best performance on the trails when there are lots of rough and steep/off camber sections like here in NW.

All the parts are at the shop, tires and wheels are being mounted tomorrow.

    two more days :D

I will give my 33" tire opinion on Tuesday when I get it back from alignment since thats the tire size I have waiting.

I still have the question of weather I really need to weld these damn plates on.

The PC cuts enough to clear the drive shaft and no caps and teh FT says to take the whole xmember anc cap them

I am temped to go the PC approach on the FT

    thoughts?

Do you think the crazy side lugs on those tires have anything to do with all of your rubbing?

    Pro Comp and Fabtech

They both essentially do the same thing, but one asks you to cut a much larger section of frame and weld in caps ( Fabtech), while the other says to cut just enough to get the driveshaft clear and no welding.

I am tempted to take the Procomp approach and only cut enough the clear the driveshaft and not weld

    Installing this Sunday/Monday

I'm going to have to agree with krooks on this. I looked at the fabtech kit and procomp kit. The spindles from procomp or half maybe not even half of fabtechs spindles, theyre tiny as hell. They say you usually dont have to weld anything with procomp. IMO I feel fabtechs lift was the way to go. Seemed more well built then procomp. Thats just my opinion,

I've seen him stuff 35's. Hell I have pictures I can stuff 35's with no rubbing. If you do it right then 35's on 3" is the best way to go. If you have 6" of lift on 35's you have less usable travel than a 3" with properly clearanced wheel wells.

??? 3" lift doesn't have any greater "Usable travel" In fact! a 3" lift is like wearing high heels and going hiking! Or like hiking while standing on the tis of your toes, and hiking.

Both the DB and the 3" lift use the stock LCA's so their range of travel is the exactly same!

As for the Procomp vs. Fabtech??

Procomp only cuts a small section of the rear crossmember because it needs the added strength of what's left to be bolted on to the new rear crossmember.

Both kits take a slightly different approach to lifting the truck. Both are good. Both have good and bad points. Both achieve the 6" lift in different ways.

Fabtech IMHO is stronger. (Not by very much)
Procomp gives you better CV angles. (Again not by much)

I can't really say which is better? Better is relative to what you are looking for??

Everyone has an opinion. No one wants to admit that there might be better options then what they have. (Most people are bias)

But truth be told! All lifts have good and bad points! NO lift is perfect!

The one IMHO is the best all around lift? (3" or 6" short of SAS)

That would have to be the LT 4x4 kit.
Allpro makes a Killer set up!
But again it might not fit your needs. (It didn't for me)

I guess my point is that there is NO such thing as one lift being better then another! Because they really aren't the same! They all achieve the lift in slightly different ways!

    Good Luck!

As for stuffing 35? Might be possible? Depends on the type of tires being stuffed and how the alignment is set up.

Different tire makers may call their tires 35" but very few, are true 35" tires.

Too many variables to discuss. Stock tires can have rubbing issues when stuffed! Just depends on a multitude of factors!;)

    EDIT:
That being said? Lets get back to the pictures!!!!:headbang:
