I have a set of 20x10 maverick wheels with new Toyo proxy s/t tires 285x50r20. I recently put these tires on my 2013 trd off-road and since then I’ve had annoying steering wheel shake and vibrations between 35 and 60 mph. Seems to ease off a great deal over 70 but it’s extremely frustrating for daily driving. I’ve recently had the wheels balanced 2 times and had a full realignment done in attempt to stop the shaking the wheels are also hub centric for my truck so I don’t think hub centric rings will help me. Also checked drive shaft for defects and balance. Seems perfectly fine. Does anyone know what could be causing my shaking and vibrating? Has anyone else delt with this issue? If so is there any resolution? I’ve racked my brain the past month and I’m out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance! Also I’m new to the community and happy to be a Tacoma owner! Image below of tires and wheels for reference if anyone can help me out.111ADEBC-275B-4DAA-95EE-622D152BAF61.jpg

    Tire balance would be first.

Is the hub bore the proper diameter and do you have the correct lugs?

Did you have this issue before changing rims & tires? Were they road forced balanced or did you have a standard balance done. Tires might have a flat spotted need to be spun on the rim and balanced again.

Nah man. Those are for steel wheels. Get the right nuts.

And BTW: DO NOT DRIVE WITH THOSE!!!!!
They are barely grabbing a few threads each nut. One good jolt or sweeping corner with a bump and you very well may lose a wheel.

What kind of nuts would be a better option and it’s the same rims as my last tires which had no issues until I replaced them and I had had a standard balance not a road force balance.

Ditto. Seen friends do this. Never ends well. And could definitely be part of the issue.

If you wheels do not allow a shank to pass into the lug bore of the wheels then THOSE WHEELS are not compatible on a Tacoma.
Really by those being a multi make/ one wheel fits other makes, may ne the reason they are hard to balance. Too much flex around hubs....I dunno. I used wheels like that when I was young but wouldn't any longer. Just too sketchy looking.

Any lugs in particular that would be a good set? Also would a road force balance help find if I have a defective tire if anything? Sorry for my ignorance I’m new to aftermarket wheels I normally just run stock but my tocoma came with aftermarkets.

Gorilla makes good lugs. Can get pricey.

I use Gorilla for my locking lugs.

I still have my stock OR wheels but these are what I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00280BGDK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Would new lugs and possibly a road force balance help solve the issue? The maverick website says these wheels fit my truck specs. I’d hate to need new wheels but I’ve tested and the wheels are perfectly balanced. Also worked fine for my last set of tires and had no issues so I’m thinking maybe the tires or possibly lugs are the issue? Thanks for the input guys. It’s really appreciated.

I do not know what is causing the issue. But as others have said you need new lugs. Do that first. Even if it doesn't fix the balance issue at least you will be safer.

Agreed. I’m going to order new lugs today and have this by the weekend. Just checking for any other suggestions or solutions. Thank you though!

I will be curious to know if this solves the problem.

Be sure to torque them correctly. 83ft/lb

Would these work. Found on another thread about fuel maverick rims and these were suggested for my specific wheels?

Maybe. I'm not hip to Fuel nuts. I just know you need more than 3 threads engaged and I imagine it has to either utilize the well or have longer threads.

These are gorilla lugs. Good rating and a lot of people use these for my rims. Honestly I’ve never been the biggest fan of aftermarkets myself but they were on the truck when I bought it and the guy had sold the stocks so I’m just making the best of what I have and saving money.
