Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I want to give the 2.0 beta a try and currently on 1.05 Base. Do I need to upgrade to 1.05 gearlock then load 2.0 beta?

 

I see that you are a 2017 truck? Is your ECU 04B04? If not - no. If you are 04B03 you have to update to 04B04. Otherwise go for it.

No need to go to 1.05 GL first. Just do the 2.0 if your ECU qualifies.

 

This morning, 1st trip to work on 2.0, been driving the same route on interstate for 4 years now. When merging onto interstate, I generally hit the on ramp around 60 and increase to 70-72 before the 1st overpass, until now, I have come to accept that the truck would not gain ANY more acceleration for at least 1/2 the pedal cycle, then downshift 2 gears, not 1, and be extremely high rpms until it made it over that hill to continue...
That didn't happen today.
Worth every penny, also averaged 16.5-17.0 mpg with 285's and 2.5" lift. No relearning before tune...checked it when I got to work...I'm in love

Curious. if we learn the truck on 87. then swap to 93 in the future. do we need to re learn the truck? will it do it automatically? . If so how fast?

That is a valid question. I would assume that doing the high speed runs in Gear Lock would help to speed up the process, but the blog is silent on how quick it will update going from 87 to 93 octane. It explains what happens when going from 93 to 87, since it senses the knock and adjusts, accordingly.

 

Agreed - is there ongoing logic to try and add timing back in that would adjust for higher octane fuel.

Not enough miles. I did a short drive and was not impressed compare to previous version.
I got stuck twice in 5th on incline in slow traffic and started knocking

 

This begs for more details...
In 5th in GearLock or Drive?
It wouldn't downshift from 5th in Drive?
How slow is slow?
What octane are you running?
What previous version? 2.0beta?
Did you reset values?
Did you do the "runs" that Mat suggested?

Question. I installed the Beta 2.0 a week ago and love it. My question is I just installed the updated file for 0B04 pcm and it installed in about 10 seconds. Says successful. Does this sound correct? Thanks
