Not to argue but would love to see an example of a new Tacoma that does not come with the free maintenance.

As to oil changes yes, 10k is what Toyota recommends. However, they do have a few break-in recommendations.

    From the manual:
To extend the life of the vehicle, observing the following precautions is recommended:
    ●For the first 200 miles (300 km):
    Avoid sudden stops.
    ●For the first 500 miles (800 km):
    Do not tow a trailer.
    ●For the first 1000 miles (1600 km):
    • Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
    • Avoid sudden acceleration.
    • Do not drive continuously in low gears.
    • Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

If you don’t take the new truck in for the oil changes, then does it void a warranty set up with Toyota or the dealership you bought it from?

Check your scheduled maintenance manual. 3.5L 5k rotate tires. 10k oil and filter, tire rotation. 2.7L oil and filter, rotate tires every 5k. Personally I change oil and filter and rotate every 7.5k (do myself) with full synthetic oil.

Do yourself a favor and join the BITOG ("Bob is the Oil Guy") forum (https://bit.ly/31HLr8x) where we discuss motor oil (and a ton of other things) Ad nauseam.

Take what the "sales guy" said, your manual, and the advice here with a grain of salt. IF you're interested, study the characteristics of oils, etc., etc., etc., and make your own informed decision about how frequently to change your oil, what brand, what grade, etc.

It's your truck - make an intelligent decision and one that's makes YOU comfortable.

Okay, maybe there is some regional thing or whatever. Here in Virginia when I go to my dealer web site for service and schedule a service appt, I have the option of:5k,10k,15k,20k,25k intervals. I have did the 10k and 15k because why not. So again it maybe a regional dealer thing IDK, but I have not had to pay out of pocket for any regular service.

They don't change the oil at the 5 and 15k intervals and there is no 25k interval because the free service expires at 24k.

5k and 15k are tire rotation and... inspection...? I don't even know what the point is. I've never been to the dealer.

Also says included in the sales price, so when everyone keeps saying free, it’s just that you paid for it already. Come on guys the dealers don’t give shit away. I’ve worked for dealers and know many people who do. It’s paid for somewhere.

Ive read from another post that someone bought a new tacoma like you and said the same thing, oil change every 5k miles even though the manual said every 10k miles. That guy went back to the place where he got the tacoma from and the dealer had to keep their word and had to do an oil change every 5k miles because someone said to. So the guy ended up getting 5 free oil changes.

Toyota uses synthetic oil in the Tacoma, so change every 10,000 miles. You can find an answer to your questions on the Toyota.com website under ToyotaCare.

Manual states every 10,000mi unless you really work the truck. Hoever, I do mine every 5,000mi. Is it a waste of money, maybe, but makes me feel better.

Please clarify how you arrived at 4 free oil changes....

....keep in mind that Toyota's recommended oil change interval is 10K miles......

I see this has devolved into another typical "oil thread".
