they help in that they move your belly further from the ground, but yeah the fundamental issue is wheelbase. I think its a little different too because there is only one gladiator configuration. I think theres a good reason you don't see any of the current midsized trucks with long beds on their designated top tier offroading models, it just doesnt make logical sense.

If your goal is hauling, you're gonna forgo big tires, skid plates, etc and get a long bed that can hold stuff. If your goal is to tackle offroad trails, the long bed is a pretty massive disadvantage. I guess they figure if you're a really motivated hauler, you'll just buy some skids, a spacer lift, and scrape. I think that's a very small % of the market.

But yeah when I saw the gladiator breakover angle was less than a ridgeline, I bout spat out my coffee. That's funny shit right there.

Yet they offer the OR trim in LB configuration.... I think the reason for the Pro being SB is more fashion of function and they think the look is sportier or something.

Would make a hell of a lot more sense as they have the same wheelbase as a DCSB. Probably not profitable though.

They offer the OR in 2wd too lol. And its absolutely function too, there is no situation when a longer wheelbase is better offroad. Although I do think the short bed has better proportions, but I'm biased.

DCLB is actually about 7" longer body wise and around half that much longer wheelbase wise. The breakover angle is .7 degree more on all the Tacomas other than the Pro, which is about 3.6 degrees more. Either way I've seen enough people wheeling DCLBs and Gladiators to know that it doesnt actually matter.

Basing it off of the specs on Toyotas site, as far as length goes the Gladiator falls between the Tacoma models in length and has a comparable break over to the non Pro models. No point in talking about width, because the Jeep is quite a bit narrower than the Tacoma. I test drove one, parked my DCSB next to it and they looked close enough in size not to make a difference. Dont matter though, people here will continue metnioning on how big they are.

    Yeah, they're not that big.

Unless you compare them to a regular Jeep lol. I have a 94 Wrangler, and it's a speck compared to a Gladiator lol

I awlays wanted a Jeep truck, but I just didnt feel it once I drove one. The only Jeep I think is an honest Jeep is the 2 door Wrangler. Never had a spot for the 4 door.

Yup. I LOVE my 94. It's magnificent to drive. I mean...It's awful and actively trying to kill me...But I friggen LOVE it.

Drove the Unlimited JL as well as the Gladiator (both in Rubicon trim), and just...Meh. I really wanted to like them. Had plans of buying one to replace my Tundra this year. I got nothing. They're nice, and there's no argument on resale or capability. I just don't want one.

I watched a video about the 2020 PRO. It’s Army green. Updated headlights, 10 point seat, new TRD wheels that are lighter.

    Same engine and transmission.

On toyota's website they're advertising a clearance on many 2019 models that ends on September 3rd. I would guess that they are waiting until that date to start selling 2020 tacomas.

I feel the same about my '86 pickup - the steering is vague, the engine underpowered, no airbags, no crumple zones and sounds like a tin can when you close the door but I can't get enough of driving the thing.

I think "production" of the 2020 is sceduled to start on Sept 2, so it would take another month or so after that to start hitting the lots.

I would assume so. I'm just thinking Sept 4th is when they will release pricing info, open up the build configurator on their website, and allowing lots to put in orders for customers.
