Help! 2010 Tacoma squirrels moved in and chewed wires!

Yeah. I cant even find this part online!

 

I bought a complete harness from an online scrapper after a fire under the hood. On a side note, if you put an oversized batter in your rig, you better not hit any major bumps without a better battery hold down.

 

Fix the squirrel problem before you fix the truck.

 

I found the pigtail, but you're not going to like the price. @DaveInDenver is our resident connector expert. Maybe he can find something cheaper.

The comment to put dryer sheets under the hood and in the cabin air filter system is imperative.
The probem even for you in the city w vehicles even garaged is Denso uses soy ink...mice and yes squirrel s LOVE to chew on any wiring w soy ink labeling (make that most manufacturers in Japan and korea!)

Laugh but you time is coming...my dealer wont even repace a cabin air filter if there is evidence of a mouse nest on intake side of filter... (extreme care needed as if debris fall into duckwork,,, a mess to pull the vent ducts)

 

Find out what resistance the brake fluid reservoir uses to keep the light from coming on, hang that many Ohms on the exposed wires and just delete the sending unit...

Edit, it's probably just opened/closed switch and you can just twist wires together.

Hold the presses. Looking at this^^^, it shows a completely different connector for without VSC. The OP's truck doesn't have VSC.

 

This file right here. If he has VSC it is indeed a different part number. Looks like a regular master CYL to me so that P/N may not work for his application.

OP - Remove the connector from the master CYL and snap a pic so we can see what the connector looks like

This sucks and I've been there, and much worse than you. I had a marmot chew short sections of insulation off of probably 50 wires in the engine bay. What I did was remove the harness tape for access and cut each wire where the insulation was chewed off. Then add a section of heat shrink more than long enough to cover the bare area, solder the wire back together, then heat/shrink the heat shrink tube over the repair and bare area. Repeat. Then re-tape the harness- there is special tape for this as it's non-adhesive. It took me two Saturdays and probably 6 hours each day to fix it all- I kept finding more. This was ~8 yrs ago and no issues with the repairs.

edit- you can also brush some liquid electrical tape on the ends of the heat shrink after the repair if you want.

2010 Tacoma squirrels are the worst. They got a face-lift in 2012 which made them more tolerable
