2016 Off-Road pkg. I've seen threads over the last few years of audio playing over bluetooth from last source (Spotify / Apple Podcasts). Mine starts playing as soon as I start the truck... Has this issue been resolved and solution posted? I searched, but could not find anything. I tried fixing from the iPhone side, and don't see anything in the settings on the truck... So damn frustrating. Thanks!

You need to exit out of Bluetooth source so it doesn’t start automatically. Annoying but oh well. Switch to radio or something else.

Add me to the list that considers this a feature.

contact toyota - write a letter - I wrote one, and suffer with the rest of us. or replace the head unit. A feature would allow for a setting or control of said feature. Such as disable auto playback, or set source on connection, etc. Its not a bug, but by design. Basically its bad code written 10+ years ago before plug n play smart phones, streaming Bluetooth and such and the cost to update it would be astronomical for Toyota. Until the Entune system goes away or gets a major version overhaul, like using a newer base code then were stuck.

    +1 feature.

I'd be annoyed if it didn't do this.

Subaru does it. Alpine does it. Probably every other device does it. Why is Toyota wrong?

Wish mine would do this with the Amazon app or Google's music app wasn't such a pile of crap.

So if you had your radio set to play and you turned off your truck. When you turned it on, would you want the radio to NOT be playing? You would WANT to have to go and manually turn it on and go to your channel again?

PlayerPro does it and can even continue on your home stereo when your commute is done.

I think the Android base "Music" app does it too. It's already there, so easy test.

The Android "Play Music" app does do this. But then it will also just stop playing audio after a few seconds of each song, so it's useless until Google fixes it.

I will try the PlayerPro app, because the latest Android update changed how the settings work so that I cannot specify an app to prevent it from sleeping/closing it. So it always puts the Amazon Music app to sleep. It's supposed to "learn" what you want to keep running, but it hasn't figured it out yet. I will probably have the same issue with the PlayerPro. It doesn't make the Play Music app sleep though.

I’m guessing you left porn open on your browser and when you started your truck it started playing...

Google will update it to stay awake again. They lag phone vendors by a month m/l.

Subaru uses the same code for their in dash head units. They share parts with Toyota.

When a radio is turned on its does not "play" anything or get set to play. It's just a transmission received that can be controlled by volume last set. Thats how all radios have been forever. I am referring to media on the device. Music, movies, last app opened. These should never autoplay.

I get it guys, 50/50 on whether its a good thing or not, I'm just trying to explain why it does this and why I personally think it is old software. Go look at the software/firmware copyright dates. I would prefer more control in a sophisticated vehicle system.

The software developers I work with adopted best practice policies over a decade ago that no application should ever auto play anything. It is a system resource. Auto play requires unnecessary time and user interaction. In other words, we have to stop auto play every time we start the truck vs choosing start playback when desired. Imagine if you walked in your home and the microwave started running, or the sink faucet turned on. Turning them off every time would be frustrating. The outdated DirectTV streaming app suffers from this quirk also. Netflix has a similar preview feature but its mostly nominal impact. You tube allows users to disable it. It should be a user choice to select autoplay as a "feature to enable". Some manufactures and content providers are still catching up.

There is also older TW posts about this issue.

Kudos to @Deacon Blues ...exactly, lol.

So, it would be frustrating having to turn the radio OFF every time, but it's not frustrating having to turn it ON every time? Just trying to follow your logic here...

Yeah, if you have it off, it stays off. If you have it on, it plays the last thing playing. It seems like that would be ideal whichever way you want it - either on or off. I wouldn't want it turned off after I already had it on.
