Warranty re-call

Got a warranty re-call notice the other day, SOS, something about the mats and I guess they want to trim the gas pedal and also install some sort of protection against the brake and gas pedal being depressed at the same time.

Question has anyone had this done to a manual shift, 6spd? I am wondering if the "cure" isn't worse than the potential problem.
My Taco is a 2006, made in April of 06, bought in Oct of 06.
The whole thing sounds "hinky" to me.

Has anyone had this fix and what do you think?

Make them send you a new/revised pedal and not trim your current one. the brake thing is a system re flash and it is pretty much a brake over ride.

Yeah, I got mine about 3 weeks ago. I hurried up and did nothing about it. I figure they will sawzall the shit out of the next time I'm in there and I'll have to ask for a new one.

 

I think I will pass on the "mods" they would like to do...... I just figured things might be worse when they monkey around with it.
On the news they now say it was all the drivers fault anyhow. ....

i'm buying a truck today(2008 dc 4x4 trd off-road with 54kmiles), from a dealer - not a toyota dealer- and i put the vin in the toyota maintenance site. it came back as having the recall as well. how long should i wait to take it in to also try and get the rear leafs completed for free.. i know i can't call the week i get it and complain. what ya think 3 weeks?

 

Why not just swing by your local dealer right away and see what they say, I am presuming this would be done for free. After all it is a Taco and it should be available for the updates.

recalls are also optional...

I'm not letting them cut my peddle...if they want me to do the recall they need to order me a complete replacement for the throttle...

and I'm not doing the stupid re-flash of the ECU...its not compatible with the TRD S/C...so I don't want to risk a fried ECU like others have mentioned which would render my truck completely useless until TOYOTA either buys me a new ECU and/or makes a legitimate flash for the TRD S/C...

 

I filed a case for this with toyota. I had my pedal cut and than they told me they couldnt do the recall because of the factory trd supercharger tune. Honestly i just want the damn shifting fix thats in the re-programming because those asshats didnt even make the shifting tsb compatible with the trd supercharged tacoma's. How the hell do you bring out an overpriced blower with a warranty into the market and have absolutely 0 support for it.

 

I remember posting and reading your thread bro...honestly I really do feel your pain...really dumb on Toyota side...

that's why I love the APR X-1 unit so much...Toyota stealership wanted to charge me $600 to "supposedly tune up" the engine (aka RE-Flash)"...I spent $550 more and got the x-1 that way I can tune and flash the x-1 without having to worry about messing with the OEM ECU...and the day I ever think about trading up and/or selling the truck I would be able to part everything out without having to worry about purchasing a brand new OEM ECU (which isn't cheap by any means)...not only that but the ECU needs to be matching the year, make, model, keys, transmission...and that all adds up very quickly...

sorry for the thread jack...but things like this piss me off...
