I'd suggest a dewalt angle grinder. The ones from HF suck. Broke one after a single use and went and bought my dewalt I've used for 3 years now. And you know how hard it gets used.

Nope. It got bound up one time, and the plastic gears inside it sheared off. Don't buy that POS. Also stay away from their cut off wheels and grinding wheels. They'll shatter quicker than any other brand I've used. Buy a quality cut off wheel and flap disk from home depot if you value your safety and I sincerely mean that.

 

This ratchet and anything Doyle is really good as well. They basically are a straight copy of Mac co brand lol. Almost identical

his logic is a little flawed IMO that a front locker provides more benefit than a rear. just because the front struggles more often than the rear, doesn't necessarily mean that helping it out provides more benefit. if the rear is more often on the ground than the front, then having the rear locker will more often allow you to have better control and push yourself over something, with less risk of breaking because it's a solid rear vs IFS in the front.

well since I already have a tool box with plenty of tool space for my collection, I would like a workbench...and it's hard to pass on 99$ vs. 430$...

if I get the 99$ workbench I could also stomach getting a compressor, what's the recommendation there? I don't want to get one of those massive standup ones just yet...I'd rather wait and buy that according to how my one day permanent house is setup.

also... @Jerneyman, what brand angle grinder did you have from HF? they have a couple and I'd really really like to replace mine.

 

Mine has been great and I think its in the $200 range, not sure. Its the Husky 20 gallon stand up I believe. It runs up to 175 psi and puts out 4 CFM reliably. I run all my tools off it. Granted, a larger one is in the works later on because I operate it at its peak a lot but it works great.

 

Idk, it was their crappy 12 dollar one. I'm sure you can get a decent one but I prefer to spend good money on something that spins at 12,000 RPM.

 

what can one of the non-standup ones do? is it even worth owning one or just simply wait till I'm willing to buy a big one one day?

 

The small ones are good for airing up tires and running nailers. Either you need a high output compressor (CFM wise) or a larger tank to compensate for the lower output. The higher CFM the higher the price typically.
