What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Ah that makes sense now, yeah I'm gonna replace the bushing just because it's a little loose and only $12. Probably attempt to do it here in the next few months

 

awesome man! Keep on keepin on. The more you do it and use it the more you'll figure out what works and what doesn't. I've been camping out of my tacoma(s) for 9 years. haha And I still am changing shit..

Yeah stockish Tacos do good. I get 350 then the light comes on. 3 gals left so another 60 miles but Ive never taken it that far.

 

Mine has been doing something similar. If I’m cruising down the highway and abruptly let off the gas, or abruptly hit the brakes with the cruise on I’m getting some kind of ‘clunk’ that I can feel. Doesn’t do it coming to a stop or starting off from a stop. Thought it was my carrier bearing, replaced it, got better but is now back again. This is with Wheelers packs

I've taken my tank over 400 at least once (perhaps twice) i have a 3.4 you have the 2.7 i think? so you get much better MPG, to test it out I had to set my cruise at 55mph all the way to St Louis one time, took me nearly 9 hours to get there! I could usually do it in 7hrs or less banging the occasional 90mph haul it down i70 days of long ago, can you get your 2.7 up there to 90ish with a straining motor? I've driven a 4cyl corolla close to 100mph a few times but it is very much a lighter vehicle!
i often wonder how friggn monster fast that corolla would be with a v6 init

yes sir, jamesboy, most of it is entirely highway miles with no congestion and the occasional Italian tuneUp unless my dials have been inaccurate all this time
although last winter after I got the new tires it struggled to make 300 using the 4wd around the town in blizzard conditions

 

it looks like a cool oil painting, probably because you are using older tech camera or is this intentional to get the oil canvas effects?

At the end of the day I didn’t end up doing anything with it. The whole VT thing threw me for a loop, and resale value is basically nil. It’s a good truck, I’m just not willing to put more money than it’s worth into it.
