Yeah I know the photos are terrible. It’s what the guy sent me. Considering he’s been near impossible to get responses from, I didn’t think the “you suck at taking pics” response would have been beneficial.

I’ll be looking for all the obvious signs of rusted components, bolts, etc but didn’t know the best way to try and ascertain if the inside of the frame is rotted.

 

ARMY??? I didn’t they still had a football team. I suppose it’s easy to win a bunch of games playing high school teams.

 

It's going to be tricky. If you had one of those scope cams, you could probe the frame, but if the owner has sprayed anything inside or it is filled with dirt/mud, you won't be able to tell.

 

I for sure would bang the frame a bit with something. Maybe @thefatkid could point out the weak spots from his experience.

Yeah, Happy B-Day @SilverGhost glad you resolved your engine problem too.

 

Nothing beats a professional inspection on a lift. I don't remember those having specific spots like the 2nd gen does. Look all over

Thanks for @Red Baron for the ride to/from and assist in looking at the truck.

Pretty fresh coat of undercoating concealing peeling frame and rotting body mount hangers, rear leaf spring hangers, etc. Lots of other rotted through spots (rear bumper, hitch, mirrors, etc). Drove like shit. Driveline vibrations, tires were worthless, warped rotors. Transmission stutter.

Onward.

 

How much were they asking for this rust bucket death trap?

 

Don't know if it was a death trap but Red Barron and I both agreed that we'll feel bad for whoever buys it unknowing of the issues.

Yea fresh coat of concealer for sure, needs suspension, all tires, major frame repair, body work and more. But he did wash it minus the under carriage so there is that...

Kinda bad when i can peel off parts of the frame on the inside with no effort. Scaling that bad
