installation 10 minutes...i love it cause its easier to trouble shoot problems cause your able to pull engine codes...

you can also monitor different parameters of the vehicle...I have my SG2 set at monitoring IAT (intake air temps), AFR (Air Fuel Ratio), MPG (Miles Per Gallon), and Water Temps (coolant temps)...sometimes I will change water temps to Engine Load...

there are tons more stuff that you can monitor...custom parameters like HP, transmission temp, oil temps, oil pressure etc...

This is not true. Those 3 readings are not available.

But, I am still happy I bought mine. I use, Altitude, MPG, Water Temp, Intake Air Temp and some times Throttle Position.

i like it, never seen altitude??? but it may be in there...

    water temp, mpgs,tps,intake temp.

never had an issue and you can use it to turn off codes that pull up every once and a while.

    PO101 sucks...

whippersnapper02 is correct...not all the codes/parameters work on every vehicle...

I was just merely listing some of the things that the SG2 can do...sorry if I mislead anyone here...that was not my intentions at all...

Would the intake air temp be the same as the outside air temp? I don't have the compass/thermometer.

    edited to add:

Eric, thanks for the quick reply.

Yeah, the code for HPR works on the Tacoma as I have it and use it every once in a while. ;)

And to the OP- I love my scanguage- wouldnt give it up. I use it every time I hop in the truck and love using it to monitor actual speed w/ my oversize tires as well as true distance since my odo on the truck is also off due to them. I monitor MPG's, and actual fuel level all the time too.

Very close when at highway speed, but any slower than that and the heat from the engine bay warms the intake and therefore the intake air temp. Stopped at a light on a hot day you might see IAT around 140+ degrees:eek:

I see anywhere from a 2 to 8 degree difference from the outside temp as read from the temp/compass gauge in the overhead console.

How accurate are the numbers you get for the various settings?

From what I can tell, meaning I only have one source to compare with, the air temp is spot on as it should vary as much as I wrote earlier since those readings are in the engine bay with the temp sensor sitting right over the top of the engine.

Also, when I monitor the water temp is seems to be spot on too as I can tell when the thermostat opens which is about 185 degrees and that is what the gauge is reading at this time. Not that I know the firmware and ODBII intimately, but, AFAIK, it is only broadcasting what is sent to it via the sensor via the ODBII cable. So, it is as accurate as your sensors. If they are not accurate then what the gauge reports won't be either - garbage in then garbage out.
