I bought my 08 Used and I know nothing about the suspension in it other than it was lifted. I noticed today the lower strut bushing is torn to bits and the strut is rubbing the frame, I need new struts but i dont know which ones to get so I dont mess up the lift on the truck, where do I even begin?

Can you get us a picture of the upper portion of the strut/shock?
There is more than one way to lift the truck. Pics will help a lot.

That is an option. But since all he knows is “it is lifted”, he may have a spacer kit.
He will also need to know the lift height he is currently running.

Here's what it looks like I dont see a spacer kit, I'm thinking it may be springs? It sits a little bit higher than my buddy's truck which is almost identical except for paint color

Coming back to this thread, my local offroad shop offered some good advice, the procomp struts the truck has are elongated to give a 3" lift. I have to maintain that lift because of my tire size, they said the struts use factory springs. So who can tell me a good 3" pair of struts to use or a good pair of stock ride height struts I can use these spacer blocks with?

That’s gonna ride like shit!!! Go in the 3rd section and get some take off TRD off-road shocks for cheap. That alone will give you some lift. Then a 1.5 to 2” spacer on top of you must. Then get it aligned. What size tires?

Prerunner and already running 17" wheels. You really should be running Maxtrac knuckles.

BTW, I'll bet whoever installed those shocks, tightened up the lower shock bolt with the suspension at full droop.

I would like to get a slightly higher lift with new spindles and all eventually, but for the moment money is the issue so I'm just trying to get the struts replaced for now

I can understand not having the money to do things right, but spending money to do it half assed and then redo it later is throwing away money. You might be able to get new lower shock bushings from Pro Comp, press them in and call it a day for now.

Definitely don't want to do a half assed job, I'm willing to shell out for some decent struts, but redoing the lift is gonna be too much right now, especially since the back is perfectly fine, entire struts need to be replaced anyway they are slightly leaky

So, then I guess the best way to do it is to buy a pair of Bilstein 5100 shocks, set them at 2.75, and add a pair if 1/4" spacers or 1/2" spacers and longer top hat studs. Regardless, replace the top hats. Then later when you get the Maxtrac spindles, you can drop the 5100s back down to 0.

Hit up Headstrong offroad, local vendor here, great people, prices and knowledge of tell you about your truck and options.
I hate pro Comp stuff, so bad. Spacer lifts ride like shit, ask me how I know.

Your worn unknown lift is a mess. Now would be the best time to go with new lift front and rear to avoid current or future suspension related issues.
