Hey @Podman04, just reviving an ancient thread. Do you happen to still have these solid models? Building out a truck bed for camping and was hoping to "leverage" your work if you're willing to share!

 

Hey @Podman04 and @tacomarin , I was also wondering if you would be willing to share some work you have done on any CAD Models. I would like to design an aluminum pop-top camper shell with gear slide-outs on the inside. I am planning on documenting all the engineering and would love to be able to share the design for the pop-top with others so that it could be fully replicated.

Here is everything I have. The bed dimensions aren't perfect but they are pretty close. You should double check everything. Also the build isn't quite how I ended up doing it but hopefully it's close enough to help you get started! Let me know if you need more info

Yikes $500 per slider. i was think of doing some Anodized al angle for the corners of the drawer bottoms and hdpe sliders under.

I would be very interested in these as well.

Did anyone ever finish a drawing of the bed? I was thinking of making one if not. If I ever get to it, I can upload if you guys are interested.

 

Careful downloading and using genuine Toyota Tacoma models. They are likely protected as proprietary.

 

Mechanical designer here, I use Solidworks for design and Siemens NX for CAM programming for the HAAS supermini mill. I'm fortunate that I get to design, model, program, machine setup and make the parts. If I could figure out how to get paid for doing 2 of the 5 jobs, life would be better., LOL.

In college, I used Inventor ( decent software ) and I've used CATIA at an internship at Stanley Black and Decker years ago. My job is considering switching to MasterCAM in the future because 1 enginenerd in the group can't figure out NX.

 

I enjoyed modeling for many years.
My most in-depth model was a 1938 Aeronca-K aircraft.
True to scale.
Extrusions are addictive.
