It rides great. They’re actually smoother than the stock Toyo’s and I haven’t noticed an increase in road noise either. I don’t off-road at all outside of a few trails here and there. I reviewed all of the ATs for a couple of weeks and decided to go with these for the price point, look, and comfort from the reviews that I read. Couldn’t be happier. If you’re on the fence about these, I recommend them %100.

Ok. Not technically a mod, but I refreshed and restocked my first aid kit behind the seat after a summer of Mr. Mom events and some plain old adult stupidity.

Ceramic coating is really foreign to me. Is it protection from scratches and shit like that?

Think of it like a more permanent layer of protection - the process forms a semi-permanent chemical bond with the factory paint, making it much harder and more resilient. It will protect your pain from oxidization, UV damage, road chemicals/salt, bird droppings, tree sap, etc; also gives the vehicle a consistent, deep gloss (think semi-permanent wax). It makes cleaning much easier too, as it possesses hydrophobic/hydrophillic qualities, meaning water/mud/snow/dust/etc does not stick or bond to the paint surface. The coating I selected should last about 8 years, with periodic maintenance.

As I never intend on selling the vehicle, it was important to me to do as much preventative maintenance early on as I could. This, combined with fluid film (or similar) for WI winters, will form a good layer of protection from most elements.

That said, while it helps with most scratches and debris, it's not immune from that kind of damage over time. Paint protection film (like clear bra/Xpel) is more geared towards that.

Nice. Appreciate the feedback and rundown on it, because this shit is getting old:rofl:

Wheel maybe 2-3 times a month, and never fails to get fucked up a little more every time.

I hear ya - plus, black will show scratches that much more.

The best protection for your paint from that kind of damage would be a paint protection film, imo. Ceramic would harden the paint for sure, but can't say it would be on the level of PPF. That said, some view trail rash as earning extra man points for wheeling, so :notsure:

There are other solutions out there too, like Line-x and Rhino hide panels. Good luck dude!

    HREW vs DOM Steel Tubing
The difference between the HREW (hot rolled electric welded) and DOM (drawn over mandrel) is strength.

The HREW is basically mild steel with a yield strength of around 40ksi.

The DOM is the same material put through a secondary process where the tube is cold drawn over a mandrel which produces a more consistent and stronger tube. This process creates a tube that has a yield strength of around 70ksi.
    http://wkof.zeropresence.org/hrew-vs-dom/

The DOM is simply stronger, can take more punishment and is best suited for use against obstacles , such as rocks.
