Installing Front Camera

Mine looks like ziggymans. I use it as a trail cam. I can turn the grid lines on or off if needed. Have them off and run rear cam off switch so can go between the two. Use it on approaches since the hood ruins any view of the trail ahead. If I ruin it, they're cheap to replace and keep a spare in the truck. And if Ive ruined it, I probably have worse issues. I used 3m molding tape to secure it. Just clean with alcohol before. another reason if I rip it off, can just place another in its place. Did it as a temp hold last year and has held so well I've left it. I could flush mount one into the plate or elsewhere, but this works good af. The bottle is three feet away. Works perfect on approaches, rocky or water. Know the levels of both. I can also adjust cam down if needed

On order already looks like a great unit and no extra switches.

 

This is how I mounted my cam. That black stuff on top is some hot glue gun action just to fill in the void.



Used a piece of metal with holes in it - kinda like the metal plummer tape but just a bit thicker - to secure it from behind using the stock screws the came already had. Ended up very secure and I'm able to see the bumper sides for reference.

Mine is in the exact same location. Keeps it out of harms way, but low enough to be useful

 

So you are aiming your Camera up then to get this view.

 

That is the one I installed. Easy and works great without switches. Like being able to select front/rear from the steering wheel. Having the camera showing the leading edge of the bumper in view makes it way more useful to me. Mounted mine center bottom of the grill and used the included angle spacers to give me the view that I wanted before tightening things down. Very easy install.

i dremeled out an opening that would fit the camera. then cut and epoxied in a small piece of aluminum for a mounting plate. took about an hour or so of work and a day to let the epoxy cure.

 

It is pointed up, but there is no drilling so you can easily change it.

I messed with the grill and determined that it was too cumbersome and where I had it worked for my proposes....

 

I am using the anytime backup cam front camera that comes with the kit.
It does not have the colored sensors which would be helpful since I cannot actually see the bumper. I have it mounted under lettering in a pro grille.
What camera are you guys using?

 

I am using the Natika camera.

 

Square Natika.

 

With the Natika you set options - left/right invert, up/down invert, colored guide lines, by snipping different small wire loops. Also includes wedge shaped inserts (like washers) you can stack in combinations to give you the angle you want. Actually matches what you see with the rear OEM camera pretty well. Wouldn’t really know it is an add on.

 

tried a few things, but the camera stuck out too far and was too noticeable. only option left was to cut the grill and mount it farther back.

 

Looking at mine this morning if you go just one hole to the right of the emblem it fits perfect. I will just need a few black supports and should be good to go.
