Not implying that you're saying this....but you'll see a Prius with 280k miles on it and the owner finally had to replace the battery pack. If it were any other vehicle and, let's say the transmission went out at that kind of mileage, most people would say, "well, yeah. It's XX years old with 280k miles on it. What do you expect?" But because it's a Prius, all of a sudden it's, "those damn Prius. That's what happens to them".

Prius. The CVT is bulletproof along with the hybrid system. But it’s close. Battery packs nowadays are also pretty cheap if purchased anywhere other than from Toyota. Not the same quality, but usually when the battery goes out, there’s already a ton of miles on them anyways.

Yeah...I don’t get it. I drove my wife's Prius when I got the chance. Never once did I ever feel emasculated. And my dick or balls never shrank. :notsure:

Although the Chevy Silverado that I walked at a stop light? His probably did.

Or fix it with a private company for maybe $1000 and goes another 100k miles trouble free. Either way, they’re very economical vehicles, that are extremely easy to maintain. Maintenance savings alone by DIY easily offsets the cost of multiple batteries down the road, if it ever comes to that.

For the cost of a Prius you can many years worth of extra gas. Not worth the price IMO. But if you are an earth worshiper and its important to you then you have to factor that in.

Hardly an earth worshipper. I simply like spending only $40 on gas a month. More money for guns, booze, and truck mods. As for initial cost, a used Prius is similarly priced in many cases to a used Corolla. At least that was the case in my buying experience.

We have 102k on my wife's 2014 Prius. No issues at all. I hope that it runs well for another 3-4 years.

My wife didn't give a rat's ass about tree hugging. She genuinely liked the way it looked and drove. The 50 mpg was just a bonus

I just put a 1K on my truck in a week. Ive used about $5k and change in gas over the past 3 years. Cutting that into less than 1/4th is a lot of money. I mean thats a lot of money for me since I aint rich. My driving now that Im leaving college will easily double due to my work. It maybe still be many years, but Ill also have many more years of 2 cars that I can end up passing along to a kid or something.

It’s fun to bang on dudes driving Prius’, but you can’t really get too smug with numbers like that...

It’s hard to think of a better car for rideshare driving, long commutes, and generally skating all over a big metro area. I didn’t buy a Prius for political or environmental reasons. I bought it for business and financial reasons.

Oh, and I served in the Army to include an Iraq deployment. I voted for Trump and have 9 guns currently. So “Prius” does not necessarily mean “tree hugger” or “liberal”.

If you can live with the stigma...so can I.

    PS...try a Subaru next!

I rented a 4 cylinder Camry last April and drove it all over Tennessee. I was very impressed with the car. Great gas mileage, comfortable, and peppy. Id buy one. Didn’t notice any weird shifting.
