No, but he was kind of forced out. Folks were hoping he would hang it up a few years ago but he kept hanging on.

Too old- school for today's game.

FTFY, dude was like 87! I don't think it had anything to do with his coaching style. Can you imagine what an actual death on the field would do to a university and its football program?

:rofl:Yeah he is old. But consistently being ok with calling quarterback dives up the middle on 3rd and 7? This isn't the Big 8 in 1986...

As a lifelong Bama fan and having had to live through the Mike Shula era at Bama....I can vouch for this and say you are absolutely correct. 1st down..HB Dive, 2nd Down..HB Draw, 3rd Down..5 Verticals, 4th Down KICK IT!

These are the first images of Shula at Bama. When your HEAD COACH looks as confused and lost as that fool did, you knew you were in for a long miserable time regardless of how long his tenure was. Every game felt like an eternity!

Heard a very interesting take on the local sports talk radio today. And for the haters on here they are not UGA homers, they tell it like it is. We are a very transient city so we have lots of rival fans so these guys can’t really just toot our horns.

So anyway they were talking numbers and history. I tuned in in the middle of this so didn’t quite catch all of it so I’m not sure what year but they said of recent National champions all the teams had at least over 60 percent of the talent to be 4-5 stars. Teams that hovered around the 50% mark were good but never good enough to win it all. Richt Kept the talent about in that percentile. The 2017 UGA team was at 61 percent.

So heading into this year there are 13 teams above the 60% mark. They named a couple like surprisingly Miami was around that mark. They pointed out the lowest ranked team to win the championship was Auburn (but that included a big transfer which obviously they had to be referring to Cam Newton) that was a key part in that. Clemson won it last year with a lower percentage in the 60 range. I can’t remember these figure exactly so I don’t want to misquote this info so forgive me if I’m off a bit.

In conclusion of this story heading into this year the top 3 teams are Ohio St at 81% Bama at 80% and UGA in 3rd at 79% stating that we have caught up to Bama in this regard. Interestingly enough that Clemson has won it with the lower number and they now are climbing up to the top end also so that is scary considering what the coaching staff has done with less.

But as for us, we are there as far as talent goes and the number prove it according to this.

I wish I had the audio clip so everyone could hear. I just found it very very interesting. Not just as a Georgia fan, but as a college football fan. It showed just how important the recruiting and talent was more so than coaching.

Ok y’all, the most wonderful time of year is upon us once again. A time when every team has a chance to win it all, well except for your team because your team sucks.

    Same as always.
    No spread.
    No confidence points.
    No bullshit.
    Just pick the winners.
