Funny thing.... I know where Ukiah is. I have an uncle that still lives there. He was 4th generation native to California, well.... like dad, and that makes me 5th generation. Now I'm in Texas. Go figure.

The last time I was through San Francisco, there was no freeway through there. I don't think they ever will.

Good evening all, it's good to be back home and able to sleep in my own bed after a week of living in a VW van. How is everyone this fine Friday evening?

It's been a while. I haven't seen too many Tacomas that strike my interest. But...…

A Pro at work. I'm going to have to figure out who has this now.

Edit: This was actually meant for the Texas Tacoma Stalkers thread. I must have had the wrong tab open for this. It kinda fits here though.

Anyway.... I really want an FJ Cruiser now. You know! For my son.

I think I've mentioned this to you but this is now the 3rd 7.1 Earthquake I've experienced over the last 27 years . The first one in June 1992 in Lucerne Valley with my 4x4 club . At 0500hrs not far away a 7.3 quake hit and all woke up panicked and scared we were only 30 miles away from the epicenter

Later on the morning at 0800hrs a magnitude 6.5 quake hit Big Bear . That was very close again just under 25miles

in 1999 living near Long Beach and at 0200hrs a very strong 7.1 earthquake hit near 29 Palms Calif . Being just over 150 miles away the strength of this quake was strong enough to knock pictures off the wall

Now just last month the 6.5 and 7.1 earthquakes near Ridgecrest . These were strong enough to cause dry wall stress cracks to my place and I'm just under 75 miles from Ridgecrest . The shaking especially during the 7.1 was so strong I couldnt keep my balance while standing up

Yep. We actually felt the ones in 29 Palms. Just light in Vegas. The Northridge quake woke me up around 7am in Vegas. I think. It might have been earlier. When I felt that, I thought, "Southern California is …. um 'screwed' if it was there. Yep.

Some of my coworkers were talking today about the recent quakes and I mentioned the 1959 quake. Can't even imagine what that would have been like...terrifying for sure but I'm guessing you couldn't stand or walk. Its one thing experiencing all of the in the relative safety of home today when I know building codes try to protect us from such things....but 60 years ago? In a cabin in the woods built with no code, no thought to this sort of thing happening.... I would be scared $#1! less. Everyone must have been just completely helpless for the duration...and the aftershocks then....

Also, just found out that there will be a memorial tomorrow morning at the Quake Lake Visitor Center AND a Memorial/Practice jump by some local smokejumpers on Sunday to commemorate the jumpers who came to the rescue of those who were stranded after the quake. Now I gotta go. The whole idea of being a smokejumper is still intriguing to me...

Weesa is our Baby Sister, and our resident Sheriff for all intents and purposes. She helps us keep the riff-raff in line, or eliminated if they don't get in line. So don't be riff-raff. ;)

I grew up in Ukiah. Use to be home. It could burn up now for all I care. I'm happy where I am now but I could move to Texas if everything was right. The hill country is pretty awsome. I'd love to just have a hunting lease to go to a few times a year.

I couldnt imagine even being in a cabin in the woods when that massive quake hit Yellowstone

This is the dry wall on my garage ceiling that cracked during last months 7.1 . It runs the length of my garage from the garage door to the back wall that connects to my place . My place is only 10 yrs old
