Yesterday i got mad at a unit because the wiring was so shity from many field repairs that i yanked all the wires out and re did the whole thing.

I mean it was just a little 3 phase condenser unit but still, shit took awhile to do

You're in the perfect job where you can see all the cheap lame field repairs and then learn at their expense and correct it all. So they'll pay you to inspect and go over the machine, to tear out others work if not up to par and then pay you more for redoing it correctly. Can I apply??? Seems I end up doing that where ever I work... Lol. I like doing it though, I'm just being a complainer:D

We just go put there and fix it no matter what it takes especially on a no cooling call.
But also have to be mind full because some calls have a limit on the max you can spend before having to get approval for a repair.
But yesterday call was all sorts of weird. I was loosing a leg of phase, having phase issues. Non of the wiring made sense. Someone used all black wires. So i called my manager and we agreed its just best if i tore it all out and did it right.

@Sperrunner thanks for all the help with the HVAC diagnostics BTW! I know it definitely took some time to write up all those suggestions and instructions :)

I owe you a thanks too!

Even though I thought the fan motor tested good it was bad. Had to bring in a HVAC guy to figure it out and let him swap a new one in

Didn’t I tell you it was bad. It can work while cold then when it heats up the winding opens
