Just high temp mineral wool. I have two kinds on hand. The biggest difference is their rigidity. The tube frames are stuffed with the less rigid stuff and I used it to fill in the area between the chute and the cook chamber. The rigid stuff was just cut to fit the rear wall skin in the pic above.

It's rated to something like 2000*.

Looking great!!!! Gonna be some serious bbq come from that beast.

The extra supports you guys added... I assume that is because the skins do. Ot have a slight break in them to reduced the vibration/ Vulcan effect? If so, that fits with my original thought since I figured that with out a break, it would save time an money

Did you use the roxul from lowes? Or order from McMaster's carr

To the first part, it was just to avoid any flex in the middle when the cooking racks are installed. It is a slight bit of overkill, but good peace of mind.

As for the roxul, ordered the rigid stuff from here:
    https://smokerbuildermfg.com/collec...ation-1-5-inch-thick-full-bundle-7-2x4-sheets

The less rigid stuff is this Thermafiber from Home Depot:

    Holding pattern until Sunday ;).

Maner is spending some time with the Mrs. and I had to come back in the office.

We'll get a good 85% done before Maner's next stint back in Alaska.

It’s hotter today. Gonna head up there soon and get the pit ready to go. Going to get up very early and fire it up. I will start seal welding in the morning.

Who hauls the wood ‘n fuel, Maner? Or is it all self contained?

I got a wood pile not far from the pit and we got a wagon if needed. There is wood storage on the trailer under the stainless slide outs

Pit is looking good man, I love my gravity feed. I was gonna recommend you look at Flame Boss for a controller but it looks like they have changed some things and the fan setup will be too small now.
