I'm going to guess that about 75% percent of us are looking for that cruising torque and power, not off the line. These graphs look promising. Good work.

I think what makes this forum different than others is there’s an expectation that you actually read and catch-up on progress before posting.

So by the end of the month I will know whether I am buying TTs or a S/C is what you are saying. That's exciting!

Its called the "forum search", you may not have noticed it, it's a little spyglass in the top right corner of the menu bar. When you're in a thread you can press it and search for comments by someone's username.

Maybe if you don't want to get bitched at for not reading posts you can use that and catch up in 2 minutes.

Still hoping that there will end up being some sort of test or at least feedback from someone with regards to hot turbos being suddenly exposed to cool water, i.e. water crossings

Turbo diesel Hilux, or any other turbo diesel vehicle. Should be a good start for searching.

In reference to my water crossing comment? Do they also have turbos mounted low?

I would imagine if you search around a little, you will find something online documenting this. Even though it’s mounted higher than the OV twin setup, it is still well within the possibility of submersion. Here’s a pic of where the turbo is located on the 1kz-te that comes in the land cruiser prado, and other Toyota vehicles over seas.

you'd be wasting your time. I used to have a 700+hp Cummins and I ran stock 3" exhaust on it, and that was still fine. Very very few applications require anything bigger than 3" full exhaust, very few.

I think guys know damn well what will happen when hot metal is submerged in water, I question motives as there's clearly a supercharger option

    I agree.

Here’s the thing.. quenching a turbocharger in water is never going to be an ideal situation, but there is a huge difference from taking a hot turbo that has been run hard and loaded up, thus increasing the housing temperature dramatically, opposed to fording a river with a relatively cool turbo. You won’t find me doing it, but it’s 100% been done on many occasion without any immediate issues resulting from said forge. There is plenty of documentation online if you search for it.

I would be just as concerned for items like my Alternator, A/C compressor, general wiring, transmission shift modules, and of course the waste-gate actuator(s) that will also be submerged.

Tl/dr submersing your truck is never ideal, regardless of turbos or not. Can it be done without a cracked hot side? Yes.

If you absolutely have to ford water with a turbocharger that will likely become submerged, stop, let it cool down, and you won’t have to worry about a cracked housing.

Edit: fixed some fat fingered words
