    nope. don't like diesels. too finicky in the cold, too freaking loud and smelly and i know nothing about troubleshooting/maintenance on them. i'll stick with gas.

    yup, looked at those little too heavy though - most of the northern lites would max out the payload on a 3/4 ton before i even get to adding in the weight of all of the gadgets and doodads i need to pack. they are nice, well built

    some of the larger Adventurers have that too.

    I still think a tundra with a beefed up suspension is the way to go. Repairs on the Chevy will kill your pocketbook.

    Spent the morning getting the rust off of the truck, a few months ago I went across a dry lake bed that was very muddy around the edges, had fun but the salty mud was not good.
    Now it is ready to sit for another month before I can go anywhere.

    Tundy payload = 1700 for a 2wd. i need 4x4 so payload drops to around 1600
    DRY weight of the lighest hard sided camper = 1800. loaded with gear, propane, water, batteries, me, camera = 2800. 1200lbs, 75% over payload.
    The math just doesn't work out. I wish it did. I would love a TUndy

    Thin out the gadgets and doodads you "have to have" ... go with a slightly lighter camper that'll work on a Tundy. You'll have a more nimble rig that won't be so cumbersome to drive and maneuver. Trust me on this...in 15 to 20 years you'll realize you've got more "gadgets and doodads" than you need, ever use, or even want any more. Cut to the chase early. ;)

    But he's also right "you are a big girl now."
