I’m aware of what my truck can or can’t do, also what I’m willing to do with it or why I bought it.

Doesn’t do shit for compensating... damn, maybe I do need 35”s.

Nice. My CV count stands at 11. It will most likely remain there. Last year I broke down and bought some RCV CV's. Many, many hard miles of wheeling later and I haven't changed a CV in a year. I've got an ARB up front so the spider gears are strong as hell. I've also got Nitro 5.29's so the gear set is pretty strong too. Mine, and all my buddies, guess is that my stub shaft will be the next thing to go. I plan on pulling the diff after the Dusy this year and having a look at it. Unless it snaps before then. If it's not fretted or twisted I'm not gonna worry about it. If it is RCV is willing to make a 4340 stub shaft. Time will tell. The only thing I know for sure is I will break something. lol

You're a ballsy man going for RCVs. I'd just break more stuff up stream. Never heard of someone with a CV count close to mine tho so well done sir :fistbump:

I've only gone through two since I put a diff drop in, the CVJs have been good to me, and they've had no question warranties so far. I ended up pulling the front Aussie, honestly just didn't like it and the toll it was taking not just ont he drive train but stuff like steering as well just wasn't worth it. Heard good thing about Nitros though, hopefully they hold up for ya

Hopefully neither of us break another CV, but we're gonna go about it in different ways I think lol

All my CV's came after I dual cased. I honestly just got tired of changing them so I went RCV. So far it's working out great.

My plan for this rig is to keep it IFS. It's a 97 4runner. Kings, ARB dual locked, dual cased and 35's. I just got done doing the Rubicon a few weeks ago. From Loon trailhead to Tahoma trailhead was a little over 8 hours. Not bad for an IFS rig. My buddy and I never really planned on doing it that fast and we got lucky not to hit any traffic until Cadillac Hill.

In a few years I plan on building a buggy. It'll be a trailer queen designed to go where my current rig can't. There's plenty of time to get all the pieces together and it will be a huge project. Current plan is portal axles from a unimog. Still researching motors and crawlbox set-ups. First I need to buy a truck that can tow it. lol

All yours came after dual cases? lol sheyt my trucks off getting new driveshafts rn, just finished putting dual cases in :bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:

Sounds like a badass project too. Wonder how hard it would be to source portals? Or parts for 'em?

The bigger your tires, the bigger things you can drive directly over. The gnarlier obstacles you can negotiate. Even bigger still, and the bigger terrain you can tackle. You can’t REALLY drive over a chain link fence with 88s. You need 102s. Maybe you want to roll over a loading dock as if it were a speed bump. 320s. You’ll have to cab mount chop definitely.

I suppose I’d just have to smugly say that anything I can’t drive over or pick a line through, is too big. So I’ll drive around. Because after all, my goal is to get to the checkpoint, not crawl rocks...which is the golfing of the off road community. And I’m totally ok with that, because I trust my logic in what I consider the appropriate size tires for my truck are.

Going 35" tires requires cutting, or rubbing if you are on trails that require 35" tires.

35" tires are a good indicator that you need higher quality skids and sliders, upgraded UCAs, suspension etc.

You may need a winch and bumper, a quality recovery kit, and you have to understand that your vehicle will get scratched, possibly dinged, and even smashed on the trail.

Some would say the move above 33" tires is the point you are commiting to all of the above at a cost of $2000 to $7000 dollars.

Or, they do look cool, but kind of funny if you don't modify the other things mentioned.

Seeing a truck on 35s without sliders/skids is weird.

Seeing a truck on 35s without angle improving bumpers/winch is weird, but not unheard of.

How about the Longest with the least amount?

Maybe I should save that for the 50 and over thread.
