mine did this a few times over the last couple years

i'll be cruising on the interstate, hit traffic, slow down, or stop and it will stall, but it would turn over again and run as long as I got it back into park and turned the key.

never really figured out what it was

checked the battery cables and ground

check all the intake/exhaust valves, replaced a few with hoses, fuel filters

hasn't happened since, knock on wood

things I noticed when it happen was

    1) it was particularly warm humid days
    2) it was after 1hr plus of running interstate speeds
    3) happens between 20-45mph while braking, coasting to slow down

I just got another opinion on it and they said tht it might be the water pump busted which kinda makes sense bc there was some liquid (I think it was oil) scattered on the bottom of my hood and on different parts. Wat do y'all think?

If it was your water pump...then you would be leaking coolant...not oil my friend ;)

Just wait for what you mechanic says. There's no benefit in worrying about it at this point.

I dropped off my truck at the shop last nite and he looked at it this morning and the damage is water pump broke which was somehow connected to the timing belt. Basically it messed up a bunch of stuff bc it was n bad condition. It's prob gonna cost me between 500 and 700 dollars but they will b able to fix it within 48 hours

The water pump is run off the t belt, so yes they are connected. That quote sounds about right with labor.

Now that I think about it, your water pump probably seized up which made the belt squeak over the pulley before overheating and breaking. It all makes sense now lol.
