Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Tsb 0062-18 is applicable to ‘16-18 Tacoma’s..Take a copy of it to your dealer and tell them if they refuse to do it you want a letter stating that they refused to do it so that if something happens because of the “stumble” they are libel.. Did it yesterday and they were happy to flash it.

If you say something like "I was in the mountains over the weekend and my truck ran like shit and stumbled and almost stalled" They will have to update. Because they cannot replicate that scenario. Say around 7000 ft. in elevation. Hope that helps.

 

^ this. You can’t just say update my truck. You have to have a problem and describe it to them. Then you can mention a TSB that fixes it. But there has to be a problem

That's the tip in I had last night. My wife said it was getting jerky. I took it for a drive and it definitely was. I'm back on 1.05 for now.
I'm 04A61.

 

Over in the SC/TT thread there is a post about our trucks not having full throttle available below 3,500 rpms. Apparently Mat posted something about it on his FB page. I don’t remember that being explained in the forum. Any one have amplifying info?

From FB: Below 3500 RPM the truck, due to the shift schedule, cannot be full throttle, so below 3500 rpm can be ignored on this graph“

 

IIRC it was something in the stock ecu logic that limited the low end to like 20% or something instead of letting it goto 100%. I believe this has been adjusted since then.

Also dynos can only read so low in the RPM range, so there’s that.

 

Can I buy one please? Dibs if someone backs out

 

I'm staying with this tune until Mat releases another update. And provide any feedback I can. I would prefer less tip in but it isn't unmanageable on the street. Though I imagine it would be challenging off road.

 

What is the purpose/function/benefit of the handheld? Anyone.

 

No need for laptop, can store 6 tunes on the unit and flash from unit, real time data and logging.

what phone are you using, I wasn't able to get the lock up to work with OBD Fussion on my Android?

 

I haven't updated to B04 yet, so still running 1.05. Running 91 gas on the 87 base tune has made a drastic difference after 400 miles. Still have some shift quibbles, but nothing that ECT and S mode dont sort out.

Definitely happier with the trucks performance. Happy enough to hold off for a while until 2.0 comes out of beta, and some supercharger news starts to trickle out.

Coming from a lifetime of manual transmissions, this 3rd gen auto has definitely been weird adjustment for me.

 

Same for me,

and also going uphill at 60mph in 5th gear until I decelerate at 45 because it wasn’t downshifting then boom in 3rd as I was pushing the throttle.

 

With the old 1.5 87 performance tune I sure as hell chirped the tires, and said to myself that’s too much power off the line for living in the mountains on snow covered roads, and immediately went back down to the base tune.

 

Unfortunately Flash the truck back to stock. I’ve been told 2.0 should have a fix to this error for our trucks.

That’s true cause I sure do miss the tuned truck.

 

Yup to the best of my knowledge this is the most recent version of Flash Manager.

 

Anyone else waiting on a reg key? I've been waiting 8 days...
