Some of us with factory wireless door locks want to unlock our doors with a single click of the FOB. This is my solution.

The Body ECU sends power to unlock the passenger/rear doors with a second press of the FOB, within a defined period of time. I reckoned if this second wire were to be tied into the driver's door wire then it would unlock at the same time.

I traced the culprit wires with the wiring manual and a multi-meter, and I found they are at two separate connectors on the back side of the Body ECU (beneath steering wheel). I de-pinned them, joined them with a Y-connector I made, and plugged this connector into the driver wire's location.

    ******* Tutorial *******
Remove the panel under the steering wheel, the Body ECU is the chunk of plastic with all the fuses. There are two nuts and a screw holding it in place- remove those and tilt it forward to gain access to it's back.

Connectors labeled "1" and "2" have the two wires we need, one in each. Connector 2 has the yellow piece as a secondary safety to keep it locked into place.
Both wires are dark blue with a black tracer. Connector 2 has two with this color scheme, we want the smaller of the two (same gauge as the one in Connector 1).
I'm not going to give a tutorial on how to de-pin.

    Y-Connector

Join the wires together and insert back into Connector 1

    Secure with tape

Plug Connector 1 back into the Body ECU

I recommend disconnecting the battery before doing this.

The FOB in the video is obviously not factory, but the system is.

If you want to turn off/on the "answer back buzzer" sound:

Subbed for future use, the double fob key press is so annoying!

I want the doors to lock when I put it in 1st gear, gotta figure that one out. I think I've read in the past it's possible to program this- I need to dig.

I don't remember if you have a manual or automatic trans. If you have a manual trans, I don't think it's going to be possible to do that. Even if you could rig up a switch that closes when you put it in 1st gear, it's going to lock the doors every time you stop and go. The more realistic way would be to trigger it off the starter circuit. There are various delay and single shot relays that may be usefull for this. However you choose to do it, you probably want to trigger it by grounding the blue/white door switch wire. This way, if you have the door open, it won't lock. If you have an automatic, just use the reverse light switch power to energize a single shot relay. When you shift from park to drive, you pass reverse and the doors lock. Personally I hate vehicles that lock on their own. Here's a page that explains all the different kinds of delay relays.

Much appreciated! Is that a specific pin extractor or a generic tool?

YES!! Been researching this for a while and all I've found is people asking why'd we want to do it. No, its not hard to push the button twice. I would just love it if all doors unlocked with one touch. That way, if I forget to hit it twice when I unlock my truck from the living room and walk up to the passenger side I find the door locked. Just a slight annoyance but that's why we mod/customize our trucks isn't it?

Thanks man! Cant wait to get it done!
