What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I'm not worried about them stealing the truck, just messing with it when I can't be around. Plus they have plenty of $70-100K trucks there for them to steal before mine. Typical oilfield guys, make some money and buy plenty of toys. Then you grow up and realize that family should come first. We fly offshore on either a S-76(Sikorsky) or a Bell 407. The airport we use has both helipads and airstrips for small jets(G6) and planes. They have a 400 car lot with cement & limestone (Free parking). I'm about 160 south of New Orleans, LA. The money is good enough but I'm gone from home about 220 days a year, but my family lives good. Here's an older picture of the TLP platform I'm on. It actually floats like a ship.

I first installed the Sprint Booster. I like the change in throttle response on Sport Mode L4. Race mode is way more response than I need. It is definitely noticable and trottle lag is for the most part completely gone.

Then I put in the Shift Sense Pro V2. Easy install even with poping the shifter console to connect the unit to the shifter connector. I like this unit on economy setting. On Default it was hanging 3rd a little longer than what I think it should be for my around town driving. Economy setting kicks 3rd in a little sooner and drives nicely. I would like it to shift 1 mile or so sooner at 3rd and 4th. Currently 3rd kicks in at 35 and 4th at 45. 5th engages at 55. I haven't hit the highway yet to see how 5th feels Only driven about 45 minutes since adding these two accessories. So far I'm liking them.

My Tacoma is a beater. I've had it for almost 6 months now. Almost time to get a new one b/c it's due for an oil change...JK.
I thought about getting a 10 y.o. Toyota truck but they wanted too much for them. Then I realize that w/ my JEEP JKU, I always had to use a trailer to haul the smallest of things. Decide to get rid of the Jeep and bought the TRD I have now. I miss having the Jeep when the weather is perfect to have the top down, but beside that, it wasn't very practical. No towing capacity, rough ride, and too difficult to use for a family vacation. So here I am 6 months later w/ my new Toy and glad I bought it.

 

Not sure what the pop-a-lock is. I guess I'll have to look this up. On my truck, if you lock the doors, the tailgate locks too. If the truck is unlocked, you can open the tailgate. I thought all Tacoma had this?

 

Which lights are those?

 

You must know the area. Depending on what's happening, we either fly out of Lafayette or Abbeville.

 

Installed an aux fuse box. Busman breaker and Blue Seas fuse box. Used 12 gauge wire. Only issue was getting the bracket to “seat” correctly. And, I cross-threaded a bolt when installing the bracket. I’ll clean up the wires and fix the mount tomorrow.

 

Not that I know of. It's (pop-and-lock) normally an after market add-on .

I considered one, but I have to lift my tonnea to close the tailgate so that the weatherstipping on the tonneau sits right. Doesn't do much good to have a remote locking tail gate if you still have to manually lock/unlock the tonneau.

 

A lot of us have the "OLDER" Tacos, and do not have the tailgate lock on them. They lock, but not automatically. We have had to purchase the aftermarket versions. Which will lock/unlock with the key fob.

 

Did it start coming standard on the '19s?

No 2019's do not have auto tailgate locks. I am looking at getting a pop a lock for mine

 

Not sure which year. Mine is a '17 Off Road 4X4. Without the auto lock.

 

IDK. I have a 2019 TRD Sport with the bells and whistles and it came standard on mine.

 

It’s a regional port thing, mainly southeast.

 

CXYyuppie has a 2019 with the auto lock. Doors lock, tailgate locks.

 

You are probably right. I know of quite a few guys w/ Ford F-150's that have had their tailgate stolen. But never at this airport, only at a couple of docks w/o security on site.

 

You can't get too much further south than I am. I live about 40 miles from the coast.
