AVIC-D3 Installed

I will get some pictures up soon. I have not used it much yet. I will set it up tomorrow and download some pictures to it. I did the bypass on it and the install was a snap. For everyone that doesn't know it is a Pioneer Navigation/DVD unit.

I searched the internet for the best price. If you go to nextag.com it brought up several places including crutchfield. The place I chose was 699.00 plus 17.00 shipping. They also offer a 4 year complete replacement of the unit for 99.00 . This is a new unit not referbished like many on ebay. Check it out, get the warranty and you will still save 100.00. I purchased my dash kit and wiring harness from crutchfield. Installed easy. So you will know The AVIC-D3 plays DVD +R I did not know this and bought a stand alone DVD player that did. I will be sending it back to crutchfield now. Crutchfield did not know the AVIC-D3 will play DVD+R's.

Let me know how the Nav is. I am thinking about getting a nav system but one of the most important things I am looking for is the Ipod interface.

 

It has the Ipod interface, but I will not be using that. It also plays .avi files. I downloaded music videos instead of just regualr mp3's kinda cool to have the video. The navigation is good. I drove up the road, it showed my road and had me pin pointed. I have a garmin and it does not show my road. Go to the avic411.com site they know it all there.

 

hey where did you mount your GPS antenne, and how did you do it

 

On The Dash.

I just ran it under the dash to the passenger side, then around the trim. There is a piece of rubber molding that goes up beside the dash, I tucked it under that. When I got to the a pillar/window frame by the dash I ran it through there. There is a seam beside the dash and a pillar molding, I pushed it down between there. The I tucked the wire behind the dash. I will take pictures if you need me too.

I just had this same unit installed 2 days ago and so far it seems pretty cool. I also had a sirius tuner put in and it sounds better than my plug and plays ever did.

 

I will take some more tomorrow. I installed it myself, installation is over rated.

 

how hard is the speed sensor to install

When you wire it in, to make it easy remove all the factory black electrical tape. This will give you the needed slack in the wire to use the press on connector. The speed sensor is located on the 2nd from bottom plug of the ecu.. you need to remove the glove box, but that is also easy.

The Unit looks really good. I really like your dash kit, where did you find it? Also I have been looking into getting one of the dual din units. What made you decide to go with the pioneer? I was looking at the kenwood unit myself, but I still havent decided.

 

First off I purchased the dash kit and wiring from crutchfield. The reason I picked AVIC-D3 Pioneer unit is cause the Navigation and the ability to play DVD-R DVD-RW and DVD+R and DVD+RW what I am getting at is that it will play any cd or dvd on the market. You can upload pictures to it for custom backgrounds. It has the ability to add a docking station for a i-pod, a tv tuner, rear camera inputs , it has subwoofer and regular speaker outputs. It also has audio video in. So hooking video games or anythings else you could. I am telling you the navigation is great. I just went on a trip. and it pin points you, and you never have to turn around due to getting lost. It is a great unit. Check out avic411.com if interested in this unit.
