Doubt. Software isn't the same as firmware. What the tune does is update the ECU code at the hardware level. Once it's on there, it's on there. Now an OBDII plug n play device that does that might be feasible.

Ok so did some data logging this morning. And what I thought was 5,6,5,6 dance is actually the TC in 5th gear locking and unlocking. Coming up the long hill every time I hit 59 mph the TC locks and I start to lose speed. Then speed drops to 57, TC unlocks till I hit 59 again, then locks up again. And just keeps repeating.

There will always be knock right? Since the beta adjust based on knock maybe he can make a trial where after so many knocks it reverts back to a stock map.

I will admit as well that I understand what this newdles fella is saying. One of our techs just bought a 19 Taco, so I let him drive my truck to see the difference. He didn't take it out long and came back to say, meh I hardly notice a difference. Now he only took it around the block... So yeah I guess some guys really don't care about how it shifts.

That basically sums up all the complainers here. People drive it around the block and then start raging

Unfortunately a single bad review can derail sales. Mostly because, It’s estimated that it takes 40 positive customers to undo a single negative because happy buyers don’t leave reviews.
    https://www.inc.com/andrew-thomas/the-hidden-ratio-that-could-make-or-break-your-company.html

I don’t see many reviews on their website and they are difficult to find.

    1. If @OVTune made the reviews prominent on his webpage AND the happy customers took the time to leave a review, he would likely see a big increase in sales and happy customers.

    2. The other big topic is product use. Lots of issues in this thread related to difficulty loading the tune and the not-so-clear instructions to some of the newer users. Product education is a popular topic and central metric in most software companies.

People are complaining because it’s different than what it was, but were complaining about how it was. It’s different, drive it. Get used to it and then throw your 2 cents in... I’m on 4.88’s and I’m loving it. There’s some refinements to be made but I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy the tune as much as I do.

The tune wouldn’t even settle in that short amount of time. For me it’s somewhere between the 3rd and 4th tank of gas before the truck’s behavior is consistent.

What would be the average knock you would see after four tanks of gas? So how about after that many knocks the tune reverts back to stock tune.

I haven't set up techstream on my laptop yet but I've been curious as to what all can be logged using the data logger function built into the Toyflash utility. Anyone dug into this already?

Its like a Kickstarter project in a sense that you pay money and then wait without knowing when the product will show up. You may think that Im talking shit but the reality is that you lose every time you post something like this. Kudos for making a really good product, -1 for poor customer service.

It is good to know your limitations! If you dont know enough about or understand a product and how it works why would you buy it ? You know your limited knowledge on the product and cant seem to understand how it improves the drive ability of the truck! If the vast majority love's this product and how the entire process works it is definitely your loss! Good for you in knowing your limitation on this AWESOME product and just knowing to walk away will be your best option!

I don’t see how you’re claiming poor customer service but I also am a firm believer in one on one not one sharing to all to get the point across to one. I can’t tell you how much I’ve read and how many hours I’ve spent reading here, other places, his website.... from all I’ve gathered it’s not our convenient buy now get now product that we’re all accustomed to. Since it’s a small business I’m also assuming the people running it don’t have 24 hour customer service reps to drive costs up and allow customers to have instant access to answers.

Imagine what we’d do with our spoiled selves if we didn’t have 24 hour convenience and maybe even without internet and cell phones :)

You’re at least 17 years old or assuming I am one. I can spot sarcasm and indirect insults. Honestly don’t care but figured I’d let you know I’m a little more knowledgeable than you’re allowing me to be. Nobody ever said I was going to or walking away. But it’s your story tell it how you want it to be and I’ll still be me and ok with that.

Curiosity.... you know how to tune your own truck and understand all the shift maps and logarithms in the coding? I don’t and there is where my lack of knowledge presides. I’m honored to be able to speak to someone of your caliber though.

You should try contacting via the proper support channel if you have an issue

    Support@ovtune.zendesk.com

Yet even then, he’s replied directly to you here on multiple occasions. Yet you are still unhappy.

Just a reminder to those reading what appears to be negative comments on the latest tune. 2.0 is in BETA, it's out there for us to test and give feedback (good and bad) for the final version.

No Sir! Honestly i was trying to give you a little pat on the back for knowing you could not pull the trigger on buying a product you dont understand and have issue with how the owner does business! So your Sarcasm spotter needs an adjustment! You sure did sound that you had no intention of buying this product ! "This alone likely will be why I stay away from the product despite having interest in it and constantly reading on what others are saying plus what developer adds to the table".

I don’t track knocks and am not qualified to comment on the second part of your question. I am merely stating that the tune takes a few hundred miles to stabilize/optimize according to the company. For me it’s a little more until I am no longer noticing changes in behavior.
