I messaged the OP and he said the dongle works to get CarPlay so I guess we’ll need it. Right now I’m running the Agama Car Launcher app and it looks pretty good. I can tell you this thing is fast, no lag at all, also the sound output is quite improved over the oem unit. I tested the Bluetooth calling and it’s clearer than oem, currently just using mic on the front of the unit. I ordered the adapter cable to utilize the oem gps(arrives Mon)but for now have the one the unit came with hooked and and just thrown behind unit with harness rat nest and it works fine.
I the review video linked a couple post up at the very end the guy says Dasaita units lack audio via usb so that is why we can only get audio via a2dp. That reason alone may be a good enough reason to spend another $70 on the wireless CarPlay dongle as I like my album art stuff on the screen.
So it’s not a perfect system but does accomplishment quite a bit over the stock HU

I installed mine last night, finished up this morning. I had also issues with the brackets from METRA, the unit was way too pushed out, the dash didn't fit. I used the OEM brackets but had to bend them a bit. Overall everything works. Had a few questions and @delonix helped out. I believe the unit does not have carplay integrated(didn't see anything about it in the ad), I bought a dongle on Amazon and it is working well.

My unit also had old software... you can find update for ours here:

Download the .rar open it and extract the update. Then put it on a usb or sd card. Then under settings you can update. Yes that is the update. Our unit is V940 ver.

anyone look into a dual usb switch to put in a blank spot on the dash next to the oem USB? I see a lot of them on Amazon but none that just act as a pass thru that we could just plug in the dual USB that came with these head units.
I did find this but not sure it'll fit our blank

@DoubleD.17BlazingBlue you have the same base radio that i have in mine. I read on another android auto head unit thread that i would need to buy it with the “canbus” integration. Did you have to buy anything extra? Or did everything work out of the box plug and play? The rear view cam turns on instantly when you put it in reverse? I read that was an issue in the other thread.

I just want wireless CarPlay, so i would just need this unit plus the extra apple dongle linked in this thread and thats it right?

Yes this unit comes with the canbus it’s a small rectangle box on the harness it comes with. The canbus is preprogrammed for Tacoma’s and all you wheel buttons work.
Yes reverse cam works with just plugging in their harness, on their harness there is a connection with an rca plug that connects to another harness that plugs in the back of the unit.
CarPlay yes you’ll need the dongle

    And it’s wireless CarPlay?

Awesome, thanks. Now I’ve just gotta find a bezel. The 1 that was on eBay sold. I saw an online retailer that was asking almost $300, screw that.

I ordered the Amazon dongle it’s wired only, I’m on the road a lot for work so keep my phone plugged in all the time so wireless wasn’t important to me. The OP has a link to a wireless one in his post.

Yeah I found my bezel on eBay, you can setup an alert on there when one gets posted, you’ll just have to pay attention and make sure it’s one for the premium entune with the large opening. I paid 80 for mine but the gray trim part was badly scratched, I’ve got it all painted to match my truck now. I’m letting them dry a couple more days while I wait for my gps antenna adapter and CarPlay dongle to arrive before I put it all back together. Cheapest I saw online was like 221 from a dealer for a new one

Thanks for all the info. My stock unit doesn’t have gps/nav. If I get the gps antenna adaptor will I then have gps?
