Motion to close this thread. Mat should only have the ability to post updates in here, everyone with issues, use Zendesk.

So refreshing when this thread goes back positive! There is nothing about the tunes that should invoke anything but great comments. I have spent more money on my truck than I care to mention (mostly for wheeling purposes) and this $700 is likely the best money I have spent. Mat should be praised endlessly for his efforts. Cheers to him and his product.

In flash manager, is only one option for 2.0.x.EROM. I Don't see any option for 4.88. was this only available for limited time until more testing? Was going to flash from 1.05. Should I be staying with 1.05 for now?

The Two 2.0 betas are by far my favorite tunes so far for my 04B04. Only minor tweaks are needed, but those are subjective as well. My truck is definitely more pleasant to drive now and the transmission and engine are on the same page. They constantly fought each other when my truck was stock, especially before 04B04. I would have definitely sold my truck if there were not aftermarket fixes for Toyota’s problems.

the 2.0 was only released for a few days through the website for Beta Testing. I don't think the one shown in flash manager is an actual tune, more likely a placeholder in FM.

theres been a few weeks of wide beta testing so I would expect the final version will be available "soon"

When used properly, Paypal got even more buyer protection than using your credit card. Which is why I use Paypal to pay with my credit card for 95% of my internet purchase. But it's true they don't chargeback as soon as you ask too, they will do a proper investigation.

No one would use Paypal for Family and friends for exactly this reason, no buyer protection.

Its beta. Maybe close to release, but still beta. Set your expectations accordingly.

1.05 on 87 base is already way better than stock, and worth the cost. (To me at least YMMV).

I'm putting 91 gas on 87 base tune and it's a completely new truck. Very happy. I'm on 04B02 so still have a few updates available.

It took 400miles to get things dialed in for me.

Lots of pages last few days. I'm just hoping that I can have him hold my handheld until 2.0 is done. Lots of good reviews. If not no biggy. Will figure something out. :hattip:

Yes. While this thread is a shit show, it is also the one and only place Mat posts updates and information (on the fourm). There is also a lot of good feedback and information posted by others. It is a place where people can get help installing software troubleshooting windows issues. Being able to search by username makes finding information (directly from the source: @OVTune) trivial. His posts, have all the useful information and much of the rest is noise.

Now imagine this thread is closed. Every time someone shows up with a question, new thread. Just looking for updates, new thread. Feedback on the beta tunes, new thread. 2.0 releases and people can't figure out how to download it, new thread. As a side effect I would imagine Mat's zendesk email would be even more overloaded than it is now.

One of the richest men in the world lives in a very minimalistic size home. Typically I’d expect a billionaire to have a home worth at least 5 million dollars. That would be the same as me owning a $1,000 home if I had 1 million dollars. Even though I’m no millionaire that doesn’t make me or anyone else poor. People here are such awesome internet warriors i typically just smile and remain thankful of who I am.

Just because someone can afford something doesn’t always mean they can legitimize the purchase. Stay humble and respectful.

Also I have never been mad at anyone on this website and try best to remain polite, respectful, and courteous. That said I’ve never been mad at the price. Just personally won’t pay for something I can’t try or doesn’t come with a guarantee. It’s not an attack on anyone as I haven’t been asked or persuaded in any way to purchase. After the new 2020 comes out, hopefully Toyota has made some shifting changes that make the driving more pleasant and if so hopefully that’s passed backwards to my truck. If not then a different approach will be a choice I have to look into for my own wants/needs.

The value of something has nothing to do with a comparative analysis of income to cost. That’s not the conversation that is being had. It’s a discussion of the free market pricing of a product. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. At a $700 price point, there are many that are willing to pay for it. You may not be one of them, no matter your income. Your viewpoint of value versus cost is your opinion. Live with the idea that you can’t justify the purchase and move along. This thread seems to be for the development of the software, not the justification of its value.

Just because I can’t justify the purchase of a Lamborghini, doesn’t mean I should go on the forums and complain about how expensive it is and I can’t believe they won’t let me try the car out for a month.

There are way too many factors out of the control of @OVTune to offer trial periods, especially when it is a “tune at home” type product. Someone could take his file and reverse engineer it and then request a refund. You’re only going to see trial runs of tuning software available when the software has to be installed by a dealer network. If that is what you want, you introduce higher expense and no longer free software updates. Also, lag times would increase. Not interested in that for a truck.

Also, my post was general in nature and not pointed at anyone. Some just take it as a personal attack.
