    4 run, 2 don't
    Stock stereo.

For some reason, after putting a lift on, bumper, RTT, rack, etc. I feel as if, the minute I replace my stereo with a nice one, my truck will either get broken into, or stolen.

I went balls out and run 2 amps 2000 watts and some sweet speakers with a Alpine tv headunit, my truck is as loud as concerts. It’s fun but I have an alarm and don’t play it loud to attract attention, sound violations have cost me upwards of 4-500 when I was young.

Don't wonder what people have. Get what's suits you and your budget. A new deck and speakers is a quick and easy install. It can range from $150-$1500. Whatever your budget is get that old stereo out. lol

I just ordered this to replace my stock.
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X8800BS/Pioneer-DEH-X8800BHS.html

Only real reason for an aftermarket radio is I wanted a single DIN so I could run a row of switches under the radio. Thanks to @paranoid56 for an awesome solution to the switch problem (https://www.paranoidfabrications.co...st-gen-tacoma-din-switch-plate-6-switch-holes), order arrived yesterday. As soon as the radio arrives, its going in.

have you ever heard or seen a double din that retracts into the dash, allowing the pocket or switches to remain?
the car audio shop guy showed me a pic of one but don't know the model!

Yeah steer clear of that type, the servos strip the little plastic gears and get stuck. What you posted the pic of that Alpine is what I’d buy I have one from ten years ago going strong, so I recommend Alpine though Kenwood is great for reliability too.

Have one in my Scoobie it always wants an update and takes minutes to start a song, paid 1,300 for it please shoot me! My Alpine can play instantly when I plug my phone into it, but the pioneer works well with hands free.

i have pull out cup holders above the stereo in my truck, sucks to be me :bananadead:, unless its hot out and need to keep my drink up there ice cold with the A/C blowing on them!
a double din I would lose the storage pocket
a retractable dd like that may or may not work with my drinks and climate switches getting in the way, if it can be installed in the lower pocket area and move the pocket to the top of it would be ideal. Car audio shop said it cannot be installed in the lower pocket :notsure:

but then it would also need to be retractable while still on and in use so that my drinks don't drip the sweat onto the unit

I have simple tastes, give me bluetooth or even just an aux cord and I'm a happy man. This guy was on sale for $70 when I got it. Aside from a display that could be brighter, it works very well. I'm actually surprised how well it does with the stock speakers after adjusting the EQ a bit.

Did you lose out on the door tweeters or are they still functional with the Pioneer?

2000 was a year too early for door tweeters, but I'm 99% sure it would be fine, the crossover for those would be near or in the door unless the engineer was nuts.
