If you had the same oem base unit in an SR5 like I did, I had the gps antenna wire behind the stereo, it was plugged into the oem HU. If not the one the unit comes with works perfectly, that’s what I have connected to it currently

That doesn’t look right to me, look closely at the pix of the units installed, the bezel is maybe 1/4” wide at the top and bottom of the HU and is almost at the bend on the left/right sides. Not sure how these frames in the eBay ad would help you

That’s not the right one, I found a cheap sr5 one on eBay. Planning on cutting it when it gets here

That was going to be my plan until I found the eBay one. Good luck with cutting it

Has anyone replaced the JBL Premium unit with one of these? If so is it all the same plug and play? Also, I’m looking for more power and functionality and from the pics here this unit looks OEM once it’s installed which is awesome! Thanks

It fits in the dash perfectly to replace the entire premium own HU, should be plug and play. You can use the supplied god antenna or buy the adapter in the OP’s link. Also if you want Apple CarPlay you’ll need a dongle, also in the OP’s post or the one in the Amazon link posted here

I wouldn't be so sure, JBL apparently has different connections from the regular HU.

That’s the Car Launcher Agama app I’m running, much better looking GUI than the stock the HU came with

It’s connected to my home WiFi here but yes if you have a data plan that can be tethered your phone would supply the internet connection, I’ll be using CarPlay in mine, don’t have a hotspot plan

Exactly, I know the speaker plugs differ and there’s also the JBL amp and how it works / integrates with the Premium Head Unit.

I wanted the Premium Package OR for the heated leather seats but I’m slowly realizing all the other goodies that come with it really just become a pain in the butt.

My tracking says Seattle now, guess it’s not coming today. Fucking USPS

Are they audio outs bc of the amp? I’m pretty sure this thing has those

I haven’t pulled the HU yet to look but my understanding is no. Some of the HU functions are actually contained in the amp which makes modifications near to impossible without replacing everything. I know there are ways to keep the HU and amp while upgrading the rest by adding an additional amp etc but I think replacing just the HU might be a no go. I was hoping someone here might have already tried this upgrade with the Premium JBL System though.
