I guess I’m going out on a limb here and might get roasted but that’s ok.

I realized the other day that I was being short and rude to my wife. My mood in general was terrible. Then I realized it was likely because I had two stalled out truck fixes that were in the problem solving phase. I love working on my truck, but I obviously love my wife more. Really need to work on this, anyone have similar experiences and any ideas on self help for this?

Need more context here. Like did she interrupt you in the middle of the problem solving by trying to talk to you about something asinine and pointless?

Yeah you can start by putting your wife’s interests ahead of your own.

Are you grumpy because of the two projects or are you grumpy because you don't have the time to work on the two products?

Well, you noticed it, and that’s a great first step

I find it’s not worth my sanity to care about the truck. I use and abuse it. I get a scratch, dog pukes in it, the rear end howls? Ah well. Giving zero fucks is good for the soul - only so many to give after all

And how much of this is just frustration with your truck?

Right man. Like I said I’m not proud of being short with her. Thanks though

Very valid, probably other things at play here. Need to think on it. Thank you!

My wife is constantly being short with me. But that’s the price you pay when you fall in love with a midget

Fair question- mostly how the projects we’re going at the time- stuck bolts, etc.

    Been there many times...

I tend to have a short fuse, and when I actually catch myself getting frustrated on a project. I will just step away for awhile.... minutes. Hours. Days... weeks or .months. depending on the level of frustration and whatever else comes up that I decide I rather work on or need to do first... a project should be enjoyable. Life is to short..

If the truck is a daily driver, problems like that can be even more frustrating .

Go easy on yourself my man, we're all human. Share your struggles with her and let her know what's going on with you, open communication of life's struggles and joys will change things, with you, with her, with the both of you.

    Be well,
    B.

When that happens I just put on sunglasses and turn into a brick wall. That’s what I was taught to do. I literally wouldn’t care of her ramblings about Egyptian dance styles turned into arson. Don’t. Even. Care.

Been married long? You and your wife need to learn how to read each other's mood and thread accordingly. When I am frustrated or in a bad mood my wife know exactly what not to do. My kids on the other hand are a different story, but they're young and still learning, lol. Give her some flowers and a candlelight dinner, if she loves you she'll forgive you.

Pour and serve your wife a glass of Pinot Nor or a good Cabernet. After she is done, pour her another one. Then pour yourself a glass too.

    Problem solved.
