I hear ya man. I just moved from NoVA, so I know it's a long drive down. One or two folks (including yourself) can always join us later even if they don't commit. I just need to get a good sense of actual commitments for booking purposes. Right now, they're holding the entire site for us in case we have 10+ trucks. If it's only half that number, we'll likely have to deal with sharing the space with a family or two in the second site.

Hope you can make it, but understood if you can’t. It’s about 4.5hr drive for me and realistically I’ll be having to head home early to mid morning on Sunday. So I’ll basically only be able to ride with folks Saturday. As much as I desperately need the mental break and want to ride some different terrain, time away from the fam is time I don’t like to miss too much of. They’re only kids once ya know.

So since it seems like some people may come in late on Friday and others leave early on Sunday, Saturday may be our only "big" group ride. Where do we want to ride? How many miles are you guys down to put in? We can probably put in a good loop in Pisgah in the morning, grab lunch and then put some miles in at DuPont too. Or could just pack lunch and put a big day in Pisgah. Figured we could put some shorter 8 to 12 mile rides in Friday afternoon/Sunday morning too.

TN crew is hoping to get there mid afternoon Friday and ride something, Saturday Pisgah group ride, and maybe Dupont on Sunday.
What's everyone fitness level and skillset? That will definitely play a role into choosing the big ride on Saturday

Fitness wise, I'm good. I'll put my lungs and legs up against most. Granted my terrain has much less vertical than what some others are accustomed to, and what Pisgah presents. My typical rides are in the 10-15 mile range and I only get out once every two weeks. Primarily due to family time constraints. Sometimes I can get out once a week. While the miles/frequency are low, I make the most of each outing and the amplitude is pretty much at 90-100% with little to no breaks. I ride solo. So while I have no one to gauge speed against, I also have no one to wait on.

Skill wise. I'd confidently say I am a top level intermediate/lower level advanced. I'm won't win any races on the down and I don't live to jump or drop anything and everything in sight. I like pedaling, even uphill. Techie rooty rocky natural stuff makes me smile.

I wish I had a clip to summarize all the verbal vomit.

    Ok, a few things.

    1. I still haven't finalized the camping because several people haven't confirmed or canceled their interest. That is my number one priority right now.
    2. My fitness and skill levels are both what I'd consider moderate. I shattered my left leg into 20+ pieces a couple of years ago, so I don't send it very high or very often these days, and I don't really enjoy sketchy shit any more. For that reason, I'd prefer to stay away from the craziest trails in Pisgah on Saturday.
    3. My ideas for a schedule:

Friday - Won't be there until later in the afternoon/evening
Saturday - Ride Pisgah in the morning and afternoon, head to Oskar Blues around 4pm for some beer and a burger, then to the campsite after for more beer and sleep.
Sunday - morning ride at Dupont, grab lunch, head home.

I'm on board with this schedule. Probably snag a quick ride on Friday evening like Rainbow-> Lower Black or something

Yeah it sucks, I just have a few things that I need to use vacation for. I wasted some of my time on the government shutdown earlier this year...

I love me some Black Mountain!!!

I really need to get riding. I'm probably moderate for distance at this point.
