So I finally got my 99 tacoma prerunner v6 and now I want to throw a lift on it, I'm just not sure where to go about starting the process. Such as, do i get body spacers since i realistically only want a 2-3 inch lift, or do i go with the more expensive suspension lifts? If i did want to get 2-3 inch body spacers where would i buy them and where could i get them installed in Los Angeles? Could the typical mechanic install them or do i need to go to a specialist? Please help me! This is all so overwhelming and i just want to get my truck lifted already. Send me links or give me insight on what i should do...

    Thanks guys

I would stay away frim a spacer lift. I would go with Either some Bilstein 5100's and a toytec aal or the OME 3'' lift kit

I just checked out the bilsteins and saw some figure like 1000 bucks online to buy and i just checked out the ome 3 inch kit for a 4 runner at about 400... so im leaning towards ome. So basically i just buy that kit and have someone install it for what like 150 or something like that? Where's the best reliable online place i could purchase some ome or bilstein stuff?

Thanks for the response by the way man. Im learning a lot right now haha.

i do like that 2 1/2 inch lift from toytec looks solid and its like perfect right in between 2 and 3 inches, what im looking for. I wouldnt need any additional parts right? To be honest i wouldn't really be going "offroading" at least not hardcore. How much should i expect to pay for installation ?

thanks for your help bud, definitely getting the bilstein 5100s now. The benefits just outweigh the body spacers by so much and theyre only 100 bucks more. Im down.

How do you like the look it gives you though? I read the website's q and a and it said somethign along the line of the difference between a spacer and getting 5100s is that with spacers you get more of a lift in the front as where the 5100s you get leveled so the rear is slightly more lifted.. is that true??? i want both ends to be equally lifted!!!

DUde also, i just thought, and this is a BIG one... Since the tacoma came with a 2 inch factory prerunner lift, when i get my 5100s, will it add another 2 1/2 inches to 2 that i already have or will it only add a half inch???? if its only adding a half inch and that's the case... im pretty bummed now since it won't make a notable difference at all.

6" lifts do nothing for ground clearance so if you wheel thats not really an option!

    Hey, a fellow 1999 prerunner guy :)

by body spacers did you mean a body lift? if so then those only lift the body *cab, bed etc.* higher off of the frame. They allow larger tires, but don't lift the frame any higher.
    3 inch body lift -
