Hmmm haven't noticed mine getting hot, now I'm going to be paying more attention to that. They are such a game changer.

You should see if there is a local company that holds test floats. The local yak place near me does once a week and they bring like 15 yaks out and a bunch of different gear. Then you could test float some different yaks. I tried a carbon paddle with carbon Kevlar blades those are even better since the blades don't deflect and are even lighter. Too rich for me though like 300-400 for a paddle. I just settled for the carbon shaft one which like you said is just world's different than the typical budget friendly ones.

I’m sure there’s something like that around here. When the time comes to buy a nice, proper touring kayak then best believe I’ll be going to the pros and trying different ones to figure out what fits me best.

Really nice. That lake looks like glass. If the paddle is getting hot just dip it in the water before using it. That should help out.

@twheat40 Tyler, adding you, well, just because you're a yaker from way backer.

I found a youtube vid of Randy this weekend. No wonder his paddle is getting hot. He is wearing that thing out in the weeds!

Just slap the water or yell they will take off.

I dont think you would be happy with the pelican. Maybe if they made a 14 foot model.

Appamattox river company has them but I'm not sure if they have a location in tidewater area. Closest may be farmville but they stock 1000s of yaks there so may be worth the trip. Would you or anyone want a rudder system for a kayak? Pelican sent me the whole system when all that was missing was one screw from my rudder. They sent me a universal kit that didnt even have the screw I needed in it.:annoyed:

If OP isn't interested in that rudder, I would be.

Edit: I heard OP likes his rudders of the dutch variety.......

My wife has the Pelican Enforcer Angler 120. I'm 350 and am neither stable in it, nor comfortable for more than 30 minutes. I love my Wilderness Systems A.T.A.K. 140. In my opinion, if you're looking for something close to Hobie quality for significantly less money, check out the Bonafide SS127. I paddled one at Appamatox River Companies Demo days last year when I bought my ATAK. They had just come out though and there weren't many reviews, so I didn't go with it. I regret it a little bit. They are AMAZING.

    Just taking some classes.

    https://www.tcc.edu/academics/information-technology/programs/cyber-security-career-certificate

This will refresh what I already know, learn some new stuff, not let my GI bill go to waste, and I’ll get a tax free stipend every month. First semester will be about $4200!
I don’t! Give it to simulated weight. Good to know about the kayak store.

Oddly enough, the Dutch like their rudders in the "Randy" variety

Seconding the Appomattox River Company recommendation. People come from all over the state, hell surrounding states to buy from them. They've been in the business for a long time. Long enough that the kayak craze came back around to meet them. They have a few storefronts around the state. But the motherland is in Farmville, and is 100% worth checking out, especially when they do their demo day once a year.

Replaced both lower ball joints today. With the help of my impact it went as smooth as I could hope for. Took me about 2 hours. Went for a test drive and nothing broke, so that’s cool.
