If you continue to see mpg's that low, might want to try resetting LV and AT through flash manager. Some folks report seeing increases to mpg after this. My firsthand experience is similar... was getting 15-16 pre tune, 17-18 post tune, 19-20 post tune + resetting lv and at. Same 40ish mile round trip commute on mostly flat roads with 87 octane fuel. All stock except 265/75/17 6 ply ko2s

Wait for the 2.0 tune for 4.88 gears. I can say the 2.0 4.88 tune behaves much better with shifting on 4.88 geared truck with 33 inch tires. The prior 1.05 base 91 had some odd shifting behavior regarding downshift that is attributed to the different gearing.

Been running the 93 octane 2.0 beta for a couple tanks worth of gas now. All I can say is that @OVTune is a #$%^ing genius. My truck is consistently getting 2 to 3 mpg better than 1.05, AND it is a much more responsive, fun drive. Mileage and fun usually are mutually exclusive...

Did a trip from Athens to Dayton this weekend - a mix of fairly steep hills and flat highways. Speeds varied between 60 and 80 mph, and I got nearly 25 mpg. To top things off, I was able to use cruise, even in the hills. The truck only needed 4th gear once, and it never hit 3rd. With every other iteration, from stock through 1.05, on cruise it would have been in 4th on every overpass and screaming at 5000 rpm in 3rd gear on several of the hills. In terms of throttle response, I used to run 1.05 base because I thought the performance throttle response was too twitchy. Throttle response on 2.0 beta is a good compromise - crisp but not twitchy. Yes, creeping forward/backward when parallel parking requires a light touch, but it's not scary the way the performance tunes were. So far, the throttle response has been consistent - it has the same feel today as it did 5 minutes after I first flashed 2.0.

Any insight into what a “GEARLOCK” pull would be? Is that when you slide from drive into “manual” shift?

You put it in the "S" mode with ECT on. It locks the truck into that gear.

I still have to load the OLT 2.0 beta tune and was wondering the same thing about the gearlock pull. What did you do? Just put it in gearlock and did some pulls down the street between the given rpm range?

Yes. The idea is to load up the engine and make a full pull. This will help expedite the learning. Of course, if you can’t do this safely, don’t. The ecu will eventually learn on its own. Think of it as starting off with an 87 octane tune and as the ecu learns it will increase from there, until knock is sensed.

If in Phoenix / Mesa area you can drive mine, i am all stock 04B04, running 2.0 87 octane. I am one of the lucky ones whereas this latest tune nailed it for me, i don't plan to ever load another.

Forgot to mention - I don't mind meeting random internet persons in this forum to test drive my truck, just remember most pickup drivers here in AZ are here for a reason, best assume we're all carrying something of a concealed nature :duel:

Lol. Go back about 100 pages and catch up! Mat's dropping beta's to the public for testing. 04B04 was first and has already been revised. They're only up on the website for 24 hours when he releases them. Focus man, focus!!:D

So it’s been hard to not want to drive with some “excitement” during the 2.0 4.88 tune.

This thing feels like the 91 octane base 1.05 as far as direct power. Multiply that by the 4.88 gearing and the nicely paired throttle response to pedal depth. Just plain ol’ fun to drive.

If I just “cruise” I easily accomplish 17-20mpg around town. On the freeways this truck can hold traffic with those light-ass Honda civics pretty square

Feedback on 747 heavy, aka dual cab long bed fully armored, camp loaded and on 35's with 4.88 gearing:

If I had one word to describe it is this - WOW!

Been on 2.0 4.88 Beta since 8/11 and logged well over 1,500 miles so far. I can stay in D ALL the time on the freeways. Previously, I had to drive in S mode - S4 for city and S5 on the highway. Going up steep inclines used to suck since I had to often drop to S3 with RPM's screaming at 5k and the truck; now, I can stay in D and fly past others in the fast lane...I could never do that before. Even in ID/MT where the speed limit is 80 mph, I can comfortably drive in D without ever switching to S mode.

On this weekend's trip, I was tempted to flash with 2.0 octane learning, but was afraid to since I'm on the 2.0 4.88 tune. A buddy @cemented flashed his to 2.0 OL and reported power improvements over 1.05.1.

I did notice that after flashing to 2.0, the truck has a high pitched whine that sounds cool. I also hear some knocking at select RPM, so I hope that the 2.0 OL comes out with a 4.88 and final gearlock option.
