Also flushed radiator and switched to green coolant. 3 years, no noticed effects.

87 octane most of the time. But will run 91 every 5000 miles/each oil change along with a 20oz bottleof Techron.

Used M1 5W-30 up to 90K miles, then switched to PP 5W-30 (I think it was cheaper and I noticed the infamous Taco Tic was less noticeable). At 10OK miles I switched to PP HM 5W-30. All with OEM Toyota Filters.

Diffs & T-Case have all had synthetic 75W-90 gear oil every 30K miles.

Lube all 5 zerks on drive shafts every 5K miles with M1 grease.

    Haven't touched the Tranny fluid.

Anyone know if 87 octane is ok to run with a CAI?

Very common on Toyotas. It's just a combination of oil and moisture. Nothing to worry about

I dump in a bottle of Techron at 5k OCs myself. I'll probably switch to M1 HM as I close in on 100k. Besides the seal and gasket conditioners, it's on the heavier end of the 5w30 viscosity range...12.7 vs 11 for M1. Plus it's got a more robust additive pack, including extra cleaners.

Also been looking at M1 Truck and SUV formula. It's new. It slightly heavier than M1 with a 10% boost in additives. Might try it out

Sure. Won't hurt a thing. If the ECM detects any detonation it'll pull the timing a bit.

An aftermarket CAI won't bring in any cooler air than the factory setup already does. But they do tend to have a nice throaty sound

One thing I wish I had not stuck with OE: leaf springs. Had a broken leaf on each side when I bought it. I was dissapointed when I set the truck down and the brand new leafs sagged nearly as much as the old ones.

Should have gone with heavy duty leafs.

I got lucky with the OEM leafs. Had the original 3 leaf pack and now the TSB 4 leaf pack. Never any sagging, even with a Leer Cap and loading it up with gear of all sorts.

Love my Husky X-Act Contours. Way better than the slippery WT.

And they cover the dead pedal.

Viscosity ratings have a range. Oils of the same rating can vary some and still be marked as the same viscosity. Kind of like a spectrum.

For example...M1 5w30 and M1 HM 5w30 are both 5w30 oils. But the M1's viscosity is 11 and the M1 HM is 12.7 as measured at 100°. So it's on the heavier side of the 5w30 window

That's a lot of boost. Guessing that water/meth injection keeps the detonation at bay?
