I love it there and the guy I rent from told me he rents by the month now, have considered it. Problem is even though he is down on the Lake off 61 don't get cell phone reception. Has internet at one of the cabins which is a small home but that is on again off again too, and not high speed so couldn't work from there.

His wife used to run the cabins and she passed away of cancer this Spring. He is 82 and on dialysis 12 hours a day and lives in one of the cabins next to the old restaurant. I will be there end of Sept. first week of Oct. not the best time to grouse hunt with leaves still on but at least not at work, and dog will be happy. All the leaf lookers will be down near the lake.

Gets cold, during the winter normally the coldest spot in CONUS. 30 below zero is common 40 below not uncommon. But still has beauty

That cold does hurt the bones as I get older. Will be up the end of the Gunflint Trail for 2 weeks mid October at a different place. That will be the good hunting. But the worst day hunting or fishing is still better than the best day at work.

    Good morning [IMG][IMG]:hattip:

Took down the hummingbird feeders last night they were getting swarmed by yellow jackets. And they are flying around the yard at ground level looking for winter nesting places. Woke up this morning to acorns dropping on the roof. Mother Nature is getting ready to turn a page in the book of seasons.

    Mornin all,

Hope everyone is having a good morning, had an interesting afternoon yesterday at the museum.

The only flying North American Aviation XP-82 in the world, Grand Champion of Oshkosh and Sun-n-Fun is resting comfortably in our main hanger.. But he did an awesome flyover a couple times before we put her to bed.. Ah, those Merlin Engines are AWESOME!!

That must be so hard to fly as your offset so much from the centerline . Landing slightly low to you can be huge on the other side.. but such a awesome feat of engineering

Ray and Max the two pilots say it flies like a dream, landing is a challenge, but once you get used to it it's just like any other tail dragger.. It is fast too, I was watching flightAware on their way down, Ray had it up to 300 Kts just cruising around the skies..
